This is all very true. We shouldnt be nice just out of pity becuase every race and religion has had some sort of hardship and its illogical to treat one race or religion more special than another. I would like to look at everyone the same no matter what race or religion but i dont know if its something possible because our school systems have brain washed us since the days of kindergarden to stay away from "suspicious people" ex. Black Bum Torn up clothes and cigarette. When in actuality this person could be the kindest most chivalrous person to ever walk.

Torry i agree! All of our schooled lives the teachers have taught us about the black slaves and how evil we are to have enslaved them. I remember specifically how in mrs. burton's class she would always look down on the white people and talk about how life was so much harder for her and all the other blacks b/c how racist all of us white people are. I remember the resentment I felt when i heard this. It is true that if you trace back in everyone's family there were probably at least a few people who were for a while enslaved. The African Americans who go to our school probably feel the pity for themselves that they do in part because of the fact that they're been taught to do so in school! I have voiced these opinions a few times to other whites and most of the time they respond by defending the blacks. I end up being seen as racist. So overall... i totally agree. I think something needs to change..
