One of the oddities of working on user interface issues for an internet company is that every time I go online, I'm entering a potentially work-related situation. As a teacher, I sometimes have to fight the urge to educate or guide behavior when I'm not in the classroom. "Spit out that gum" or " take off that hat" are usually fighting to stay in my mouth when I see teenagers off campus. My friend Audio, who has worked as a recording engineer and is currently working on a pop song demo with a writing partner, says that listening to any music is "work." He's constantly analyzing the sound quality, volume level, lyric, tonal qualities, etc etc etc...

I hear you. I'm part of a small subset of people who got thrown out of the action in the first scene of the most recent Harry Potter movie ... because at the moment when the caretaker is going up the steps to the big house, I said, "Hey, that's a nice English horn solo!" *facepalm*

And don't get me started on school scenes in TV shows ...
