The phone was a much needed interruption, it rang shrilly almost as shrill as Lilah's voice, only welcomed.
"McDonald." I said professionally into the phone, Lilah sighed and walked over to the wall to stare at my degree's just as she always did, as if she'd find that they were fake or something.
“Hey, I just got your message. Sorry I didn’t get your call before. What’s going on?”
I coughed and turned my head as if I could shield Lilah from this conversation.
"I just wanted to call, didn't want you to throw me in that catagory. The one that didn't call. You know." I couldn't hide my smile and by this point Lilah's interest was peaked, Fuck.

"Oh." I didn't realize that there was disappointment in my voice, guess I couldn't help it. He just wanted to call...well, I should be happy with that right? Then again I don't know. I'm new to this whole dating men thing. "I don't think I could have after we tried to say goodbye that night..." I added, trying to cover it up.
"Well...I ummm I wanted to see if you wanted to get together this weekend maybe. I think it's my turn to cook." I smiled slightly into the phone, just happy to be talking with him. "Are you busy or can I expect company this weekend?"

"Oh."
Fuck, she sounded disappointed, that's not the only reason I called, see through me Tara, please.
"I don't think I could have after we tried to say goodbye that night..."
I couldn't help but smile a bit at the memory which earned me yet another look from Lilah. Bitch needed to mind her own business.
"Yeah, I was hoping as much."
I heard her practically searching me through the phone.
"Well...I ummm I wanted to see if you wanted to get together this weekend maybe. I think it's my turn to cook. Are you busy or can I expect company this weekend?"I smiled again and Lilah started to speak ( ... )

Tara. I'm sorry, my evil cohort was in here and she likes to pry, I didn't mean to be rude. I actually had more I wanted to say she's just, a nightmare. I actually made plans for us this weekend...And they don't involve you cooking."
I could feel my face turn red, deep red, at his words. My ears started to burn and I cleared my throat. "Ohhh...ummm." I coughed. "So you don't trust my cooking hu..." I tried to joke and I brushed my hair away from my face. "W-what would that be?" I chewed my lip and waited with bated breath for his response. I had a feeling I knew what it was but I still wasn't sure.
