greetings, gentle reader ..

i don’t recall how i found her journal, and i don’t know if any of you follow her ~ twistedchick ~ but sometimes i wish this journal was more like that .. heh as well as being little more faster-paced i am sometimes envious of the people who can write a new four-page column every day on the net or in the newspaper, or run a four- ( Read more... )

"if i could wave my wagic wand i’d have something stellar and profound and original to put up in here every day."

Same here! I often wish I could be more profound. :)

BTW, a virtual *wave* back at ya, GI!

My issues with posting in live-journal is wondering if I really should hold back a bit more. Not necessarily that I do it too often ('cause I have cut back in recent years), but I sometimes feel I just give away too much. And then I think about it later and wonder if I should've posted what I did at all. Not to mention, I've made all my old entries private. I'm embarrased by many of them. Also I wish I could make my entries shorter. I have a tendency towards wordiness (such as in this reply.)

But somehow, rationally, I'll bet most other people aren't as critical of my posts as I am. It's good to keep that in mind. Our lives won't be affected if you choose to post something a little less than stellar. It's your space, so don't be afraid to use it. (In fact, why not try posting something just totally mindless--see what happens!)

Anyway, it's always cool to hear from you, G! :)

This is the first time in months that I've actually found myself sifting through the pages of my friends' list, wishing that I didn't feel so disconnected from those that still populate that list. I guess I have similar reasons for keeping this journal in that it serves as one of the last remaining links to my past, the life I used to have before I embarked on a more solitary path. And, like you, I hesitate to update my journal for fear that it won't live up to some impeccable standard of wit and eloquence, which of course only perpetuates the isolation. For this reason, I put up a post on WF only very recently, and was actually surprised to find that one person responded rather quickly despite the board's rather deserted appearance. Who knows, maybe its never too late.

I've been meaning to comment on your entry since you first posted it (I could have been first, damn it). Maybe it's the whole "don’t speak unless you can improve the silence" thing working on me too.

I know I often think of something to put in my own journal, but that's as far as it gets: thinking. Maybe it's laziness on my part, but I think it may be more than that. Who knows?

Anyways, I'm not too lazy to read and I too keep up with what appears on my friends page. G.I., I'm always glad to see a new post from you and the others in my little group, though it would be hard to prove it from my actions.

I always find your perspective interesting and still catch myself thinking about how for all our apparent differences (I'm nearly addicted to television for instance) on some level there is an uncanny similarity in how we view ourselves and our relationship to the world we live in.
