I'm going to write something longer later but tl;dr - I loved it.

Not least because:

You saw the special in the cinema. Anything included there that wasn't in the television-shown version? (Hopefully more Greg) ;) -getlestrade

I'm just watching the TV version now so can't say for certain but I doubt it. We got a 5 minute guided tour of the Victorian 221B from Steven Moffat before the show started and then after, there was a feature with Mark Gattis doing short interviews with various cast members - though sadly Rupert wasn't one of them :(

The episode was a bit overwritten at times, but I enjoyed the canon references ... plus the writers gave all the clues needed to answer Sherlock's big question, which made me very happy :-)

My main criticism is that it needed more Lestrade! :'-(

I liked it although there was a but much Maffat being Moffat....

Mycroft was at ease with Lestrade and vice versa. I also see Mycroft is thawing somewhat or at least willing to show it. When he says he always will be there for Sherlock he was showing much more of himself than he has before secure in the knowledge it was safe to do it in front of those people.

Mind you... I am a bit worried because it is usual in stories that show a character learning and growing that the character has to lose a person they have been relying on. And in this world that does put rather a large target on Mycroft's back.

Most people assume it will be Mary who gets it in season 4, it is canonical but that may not matter.
