Well, I had some technical trouble watching this latest episode, so my impressions may be marred by that. I feel like I missed half of the major points though I did get to see some scenes about ten times... :P
yep, yep, yep. I didn't buy Lee's cluelessness about being the right man for the job. I don't mind that he's President (I'm hoping he will now get a few more meatier story arcs) but the Lee/Romo scenes were weird and felt off. Contrived.
The cat thing was ridiculous!
I'm a bit thrown off about how calm and quiet everything has suddenly become about her. No more talk about her special destiny, about finding earth and all that jazz.
The changes in characterisations from one episode to another are far too jarring. I love 'military' Kara but the show hasn't given us any reason as to why she's suddenly happy to play the good little soldier and obey orders. And the fact that no one is questioning her vision and how it never led them to Earth but to the Cylons instead is also jarring for its absence.
And Kare/Lee seems to be history, pretty much?So it seems. The absence of dialogue feels like it's drawing even more attention to their 'nothing' relationship. A few words between them before or after Bill's send off would've been natural

yeah. All in all, I'm not so sure about my feelings on S4. It's not that K/L/S/L was the only reason I've been enjoying the show; I also love all that cylon and metaphysical stuff, the politics, the action sequences and everything, so S4 still has me excited. It's just that some story arcs that kept me on edge and some characters I've come to be interested in appear to have suddenly ended or aren't developed as consistently as before. The writers are clearly forcing it all to a finish and thus are only taking up the most skeletal, plot-driving aspects. So the s3/s4 hiatus hasn't just been a temporal one but also a hiatus in the style of the show, and it's just been too abrupt for a slow-adapter such as myself who has been looking for a sound resolution of certain issues...
It's the little things that have always made this show extra special. YOU've hit the nail on the head here. Right now, there's just the grand scenes, and small though infinitely carrying moments - such as that briefest of brief scenes between Kara and Lee when Adm

I'm definitely enjoying the season too. So many of the revelations are very exciting and shocking. But the backbone of my enjoyment has always been Kara/Lee. I never find myself wanting to rewatch battle scenes or write fic about the Cylons. So watching the show for purely 'entertainment' levels puts it in the same category as watching other shows like Smallville or House. I enjoy everything but I don't obsess or invest. I just simply enjoy and easily move onto something else. I guess I've enjoyed my K/L obsession for so long now that I'm feeling a disappointed at how its been left. I would never have predicted that their story was too boring for the final season.
