Blind_go reflections
The blind_go special fanart round is over! My entry is here.
So…some comments and reflections on the round and my entry. First off, this was a hell a lot of fun to do. Many fics that come out of blind_go end up being my favorite Hikago fics of all time, like corbeaun’s Season of Black Chrysanthemums , chaineddove’s The Brief and Abridged History of Ko Yongha, petronia’s Proof by Contradiction and many other excellent stories. So to have a chance to do fanart for one of those fics and participate in blind_go at the same time was very appealing. I’m glad I did it and hope they do it again sometime in the future.
Regarding my entry, I was at first unsure on which fic to draw from, and I considered many of the AU’s before changing my mind and doing meitachi’s A Neo-Romantic Illustration of High School BL Clichés. This has got to be my favorite Kaga/Tsutsui fic ever; Meitachi captures the characters so well that it’s easy to visualize them moving through the story.
So I drew Tsutsui walking past Kaga on his bike, with Kaga kinda looking back. I’m not horribly pleased with the coloring; it still looks very amateur. I did like how the cartoon-y background turned out, especially the night sky.
And ahahah I misspelled ‘exhibit’ in the picture I thought I had corrected that. Which my rl friends would say is very typically of me >_<;;;.
For the other entries, I especially liked dumbimps’s Raccoon, which I thought was adorable and masterfully colored all round, even if dumbimp wasn’t satisfied with the background ;). I definitely lol’d at daisy_chan’s rendition of zoesque’s Lonely Rolling Star because of her wonderfully disgruntled Touya. I also thought corbeaun’s entries were the easiest to guess because of her specific art style <3. Though, in actuality I didn’t have a hard time making guesses for any of the pieces, which seemed to be common. I think it’s simply because it’s much easier to identify someone’s artistic style than their writing, for the reason that art is immediate and visual in it’s nature.
I’ll close with conrgats to all who participated and guessed, I hope you had as much fun as I did! Thanks also go to the blind_go mods, who did an awesome job organizing this round, as usual and for me letting turn my entry in 2 hours late.
