Woe to the Conquered

Jul 22, 2009 14:10

So, before I get started on this entry proper, I want to apologize and explain to anyone who I defriended recently, and may have been surprised or even offended by the move. Rest assured, I meant to make this post days ago, but real life and the whole thing with me stepping away from RI happened and I just forgot (Yes, despite the timing, most of ( Read more... )

The community in general has just grown too aggravating for me to be around, be it for now or for the long term. The childish attitudes, the way people jump at others for small things (myself included), and the way it always brings out the worst in me... yeah, it's grown apart from what I look for in a social group too, but particularly these last few months it's been really bad. I might still pop in every now and then on RI, we'll see.

I might still do the M&M game, but anything I do D&D wise won't be hosted on RI for obvious reasons (...or, well, they might not be so obvious to you, since I know you don't do much there). It'll likely be hosted on some external location, like a wikidot wiki+forum. I'll keep you updated on that.

I do plan on continuing TSO, as I really don't want to cancel it. I just can't give a specific timeframe beyond "when I feel comfortable enough," both for my own sake and my players'.

Yeah, I didn't figure that it'd be anytime soon. I do look forward to it's eventual return, though.

I'll bite. What was the straw that broke the camel's back?

Something that deserves an entry in it's own right (though it won't get one). The drama between me and April, and generally everything surrounding RFTA and events afterward where what did it. After all that, I just kinda sat back and said "I can't do this anymore. ".

Bummer, dude. I'll miss you around there.

Do you use AIM? You should look me up. We can play some Civ4 or something. I suck at the game but I still think it would be fun.

Yeah, though I'm not more than a few hours at a time - sn is NeoSqueeks. And more people to Civ4 with is awesome (particularly since I also kinda suck at the game XD)

Yikes. Massive commiserations on the domestic situation, Drew.

I can understand your reasons for not wanting to hang out around RI so much anymore, but know that you'll be missed around there.

Also, do keep me posted on the Mutants and Masterminds game, if you would--I'm still trying to wrap my brain around the system, but it seems like an idea that has the potential to be pretty interesting.

I'll be sure to keep you posted, Dry. No promises, obviously, but the idea's still brewing. I probably pop into #atallas with information if/when I'm ready to present it. Same with the Coperia game I was planning.

It's OK, I guess. I barely update mine anymore. I mainly use it to follow other people's journals to see what's going on. Mainly to follow whatever drama is happening, to remind myself too continue on busy with other stuff. Fun!

Anyway, don't be a stranger, Drew!

It just all seems really silly. The #RI stuff. You guys are arguing over a Fanfiction Writing Tournament. Take a step back and really think about that. I should address this to everyone, not just you, but still...

*facepalm*

Well, you have to realize that tourny drama is only a part of a very unpleasant whole with RI these days, at least for me. As for arguing over tourny stuff, that's part of what I can't stand anymore, because it is silly, and it's part of why I left. Also part of why the situation with April stings so much, because it was all over a frakin' fanfiction tournament. Like... geez.

I can see where April is coming from, though. Still, In my mind I think these tourneys need to be put on hold till people can grow up a little and can handle things in an adult manner. The tourneys are obviously the source of distress for everyone since no one seems to be able handling playing together. It's like elementary school all over again :P
