Yes, there have certainly been Christians and churches throughout history which did so. There have been Christians throughout history who have worked with enlightenment for the betterment of humanity. Judge not, and all that.

The "argument" stuff is, um, well...yeah. The less that comes up, the better. I really don't consider these people confident in their Christianity; it's as if they are clinging to their belief in Jesus by a thread, and if you happen to say, "Hey, look, here's some science!", they'll just have themselves a crisis on the spot and their whole belief system will just wilt.

Sorry to say Steve but you and Lenny are not the norm for Christians in this country. The norm seems to want christianity and only christianity taught. Sad but the nut-job above is starting to represent most christians and is as loud as a squeaky wheel... and you know what they say about those.

By the way, happy B-Day... I know it's coming up. :-) Here to hoping you find someone to take the spanking for you!

I gotta disagree with this. It's usually the minorities within given groups that "squeak" loudest. People begin to think that that group must be the majority because they're the ones you always hear from. Take Islam for instance. The only ones we hear from are the suicide bombers, the nutjobs on al jazeera (sp?), and Louis Farakhan. Hardly representative of your everyday Muslim.

Never trust what you read or hear or see. It's all an illusion and edited and manipulated to make you think a certain way about certain people.

Really... agnosticprophet December 16 2005, 17:24:08 UTC
One of the whole points about most religion is that you don't argue it. You don't have to, because it's not based on science, and faith is, well, faith. If you argue it in scientific terms, you're speaking to a German in French about particle physics.
Yeah, these people seem to lack the simple faith that would allow them to feel secure enough to leave the evolutionists to wallow in their supposed ignorance peacefully.
Sorry about the phrasing, I'm not very lucid right now... :)
Oh, by the way, I do want to be friended in your new LJ, if it's all cool with you.

Yes it is cool :) And you are right. Most people are taught early from childhood not to question the religion they have been taught. You can change a society's political system but never mess with their religion. As early Christians learned, if you don't like someone's religion it is better just to kill them off then try to convert them.

And you sound as lucid as ever. Oh! You going to Chattacon?
