And you can get SNES pads all over the place. Try "SNES USB CONTROLLER" in google. I'm not sure about Megadrive emus, I've used MESS, which is the same as the MAME frontend, but does home computers.
Megadrive controllers on the other hand are, suprisingly, a big arse. I'm going to have to get bits of wire and a soldering iron to build a Megadrive/Master System adaptor.
