Are Cheesecakes Pies? Because if that's the case then cheesecake gets a Top Five slot on my Top Five Favorite Pies (currently being compiled).

I would say no. The pie originated from the idea of a food that was easy to transport... thus a crust that comes up along the sides, and can be baked with a top pastry crust. Cheesecake has a much more delicate structure. Also, cheesecake is almost always consisting of cheese. A pie can have any sort of filling.

In regards to your list, I would say cheesecake cold have an honorable mention with pies or make a list of favorite cheesecakes, depending on how grand cheesecake is in your life of lists.

They're called cheeseCAKES so no, they're not pies. This is partially because pies are delicious and cheesecakes are gross.

The first of these sentences is true. The first clause of the second sentence is true. The second clause of the second sentence was clearly written while under demonic influence, as nothing more wrong has been uttered on this earth.

I don't understand why people are so protective of dessert. Your opinion is wrong...sorry.

Sure, and why we're at it let's add cobbler, flan, Jello, and other gelatinous foods. *Sigh*, sometimes you make me sad.

It's a crust with a filling, which puts it pretty squarely in the pie family. It's definitely not a cake. So why is it called "cheesecake," you ask? Think about it: would you eat something called "cheesepie?" Because I fucking wouldn't.

Pie Crust + Filling = Pie. Duh.

But Andis read all this smart-guy stuff off the interwebs, and as a result, the first Inquiry Council of Cyndy's (Me, Andi, and Mac) all have decided that Cheesecake, being disgusting under the name "Cheesepie," is in fact the culmination of Pie Technology, and the bridge that lead into the Cake Era.

Poppycock! It's pie, pure and simple! At the very least, it is its own thing entirely. It's certainly not cake! It's got nothing to do with cake! Such malarkey!

It's not Cake! It's the "Culmination of Pie." The pinnacle of Pie Technology. The final step, before the world invented quickbreads (the Romans, i think?) and therefore opened a new world of Bread Deserts.
