Summary: The battle between Sirius's loyalty to James and his lust for one particular redheaded girl commences. Usually he's good at keeping those feelings in check, but this time the girl lusts back.

He does not move for a moment, though his heart burns for him to do something, something daring and worthy of the name Sirius Orion, from the noble and most ancient house of Black. He’s supposed to be good at this, supposed to be a womanizer and a man deft in the art of women, supposed to be having his way with anyone he pleases, supposed to know how to deal with situations like these.

It’s not supposed to be Lily Evans.

“Kiss me,” she murmurs. Her freckles are vibrantly etched, and the soft lighting of the Seventh Year boys’ dormitory seems to enhance her wanton mood. He sees the minute movement of her hips towards his, and watches as she lays a delicate hand on his chest. He decides to focus on her hair; it is red and currently looking slightly disheveled in waves of rusty beauty. Sirius lets himself lean forward slightly, lets himself put an arm forward around her waist… eager, Lily raised her lips to meet his and he was gone.

He is gone and frightened and incredibly turned on. In the corner of the room, dog Sirius watches as Lily looks around the room, confused. Sirius isn’t supposed to be anywhere near Lily Evans with the kinds of thoughts he’s been thinking lately. He shouldn’t be near her when he knows damn well that James has been head over heels in love with her since perhaps conception, and yet there they both are. Lily sits upon Sirius’s bed and waits.

She isn’t his to have.

He lopes silently across the room in front of her; Lily’s only seen him in dog once before, but she knows in an instant that it’s his way of recovering so that he can make a well-informed decision. She doesn’t much like the sound of that; Sirius was always so noble when it came to James, and Lily wished that for once he’d just let her make the choice for herself. Just once.

She puts out a hand, and he, a paw. Dog Sirius shies away suddenly, and for a moment, Lily thinks he’s gone.

She begins to cry.

She knows it’s stupid, to let a boy get to her in such a way, but… well, Sirius was different. He was so off-limits and yet so tangible it made her head spin. She knows she really should love James, what with all the ways he’s been trying to get her to stand being in his company. She knows that Sirius really is a womanizer and that she should have nothing to do with him. She knows all this, and yet-- and yet she is in the dorm, waiting for the dog to return.

It is not the dog that returns, but the man. His face is blank, but his eyes are full of an unknown emotion; Lily lets herself entertain a hope.

“James,” Sirius whispers simply, coming closer to her.

Lily turns her head to the side. “I know,” she mutters, almost dejectedly. “That’s not your decision to make, though-- it’s mine.”

She places both hands on his chest this time. “And I choose you. So kiss me, damn it, before I have to take drastic measures.” She smiles.

Sirius still looks somber. “He’ll never forgive me.”

Lily breathes, then wraps her arms around him tightly. “He doesn’t have to know.”

A beat passes with their lips nearly touching; finally he presses his lips against hers roughly, sending them both crashing down upon his bed. He hair is splayed out behind her, waves of red against a sea of Black. She feels so good to Sirius, and she knows exactly what to do with her body, how to position herself… she’s not willing to let this opportunity pass up.

Bugger James, bugger predictability, bugger everything. Lily’s brain is on overdrive, trying to catalogue every sensation that’s passing through her body. Kissing James is nothing like kissing Sirius; James is tentative, hesitant… he isn’t sure of himself and whether she approves. Sirius, on the other hand, is rough and fast and is about to bloody drive her over the edge. She keeps that tidbit on the backburner as she begins to learn exactly what turns her on about Sirius. She thinks about his eyes, a endless pool of grey; surely she couldn’t like him-- maybe even love him-- for his eyes. She thinks about his scent… it’s masculine to the extreme, and sends her senses blazing. But maybe… maybe, it’s the fact that he’s not James that does it for her. She sighs. Yes, perhaps that’s it.

Sirius stops thinking.

He knows that what he’s doing is bloody wrong, that when it’s all said and done he’ll feel like an utter git and won’t be able to look either James or Lily in the eye for a while. So he doesn’t let himself register the fact that he’s a double-crossing best friend, a womanizer, and a traitor. He just let his lips find hers, lets his fingers run through her hair and down her stomach and under her skirt, up her thighs--

“No.” He rips his lips away from hers and is out the door in an instant.

She lays there for a moment, shocked at the loneliness of it. He wasn’t supposed to leave.

Footsteps creep up the stairs, and Lily can see a faint figure in the doorway.

“Lily?” The voice is sickeningly familiar. Lily straightens and sits up, tying her hair back in a ponytail in one swift motion. She stands, and begins to walk out.

“Not now, James,” she chokes out, feeling the onset of a sob begin to squeeze her chest tightly. From behind his dark rimmed glasses, James’s face seems to know no bounds of sympathy. If only you knew. She flees, running to the girls’ dormitory, hiding from her depravity.

James looks to the bed where she had been laying, and the seed of doubt forms in the pit of his stomach like an ulcer, waiting to burst. A beat, and then he too is gone.
