New ideas

As much as I love new story ideas when they pop into my head, I feel like I'm cheating on my original story by pursuing it. The Hypernia Series has been in my head for the better part of two years, but it comes to me in fits and starts. I'll be insanely inspired for a time, then I'll run into a block. I've been doing a lot of outlining, but I'm ( Read more... )

So, I'm not the only writer with a million thoughts in her head? good to know :] writin2staysane August 13 2009, 03:09:41 UTC
I completely can relate with what you are saying. I'll get this crazy-good idea for a story and then I will have to go write it right away. I'll be really into it for a day, or sometimes a week and then I will get inspired by something new and want to start writing a new story. It helps me if I write out all of my thoughts for each story, and then, whichever one I choose to work on first, the other one will still be there when I decide to return to it. Writers do have many half-thought ideas and yes, it does get nuts. Sometimes, I even feel like I can't put anything into words because I am thinking about so many things at once. But, I wouldn't want my life any other way, because I don't know where I would be without writing all the time. Best of luck to you with both stories. I'm sure you'll tackle them very well :]

Thank you for the kind words and I am taking your advice and outlining both stories right now. The first idea I was working on seems a lot more involved and will take a lot longer (I could see at least four books in that one) to complete, but maybe if I've outlined everything, I'll still be able to come back to it.

Thank you again, and I hope your writing is going well too!
