[Who:] Narcissa Malfoy, OPEN
[What:] Sloth, and why it's not much fun.
[When:] Week 7 - Seven Deadly Sins Event.
[Where:] The Mall.

Narcissa Malfoy was not by nature a virtuous person, but she did possess one virtue in particular- diligence. This was not to say, of course, that she had ever worked a day in her life, or indeed tried particularly hard at school- but she worked at what really needed to be done, oh yes. She worked at her hair, and at conversations, and she worked at listening to what people weren't saying. She worked at appearing prim and perfect no matter what, because that was the exterior she was supposed to have. She worked at pulling strings, and smiling at the right moments, and remembering everybody's name, because it made them so much more eager to do as she suggested- or, occasionally, commanded. It all really boiled down to the same thing- a quiet suggestion sometimes carried much more weight than a snapped demand. She worked on knowing when that was. She worked at keeping her family together.

And so it was something of a mystery to her why she could not be bothered doing anything.

She had gotten up- she'd felt brighter then, more focused, but now she seemed faded out and hazy and insubstantial, ineffectual- and then she'd given up on her hair, something which hadn't happened for a long time. She'd wandered through the Mall, dawdling and dragging her feet with slowly waning interest until finally she'd sat down in one of the booths in an abandoned restaurant-

-and woken up two hours later.

And yet she hadn't moved from where she was, curled up inelegantly on the long, cushioned bench, her hair in her face, her eyes fighting to stay open but her body unable to indulge in any more sleep. She felt- wrung out, distressingly so. Wrung out and distant and uninterested in the world. Earlier, the bone-deep laziness had been pleasant in a warm, feline sort of way, and falling asleep had felt like a luxury. Now, she felt tired out rather than sleepy- tired of everything.

It would go away. It definitely would. As long as she just...didn't move too much.
