All I'm asking is that you give a damn.

Take five minutes from your life to stop thinking about whatever it is you're planning on doing-- or about how you may be feeling bad-- and spread the word.

I'm infuriated by how little attention this has gotten and by how little anyone has said about it. For five minutes, read these links, watch these videos:

My parents lived through something like this, and it's both amusing and sad that both times the US/EU reaction was exactly the same : blind eye. But I am surprised. Iran? Isn't that usually recognized as a pretty volatile country that we ought to handle with care?

Maybe that's why this century started off with all the wrong feet. I'll wear green today.

The US has actually taken a very wise stance this time-- Obama has decided to not acknowledge the election results, and Germany's taken it a step farther and decided to not acknowledge the government.

Thanks, I'll be doing the same tomorrow.

Ah, I read that wrong, then.

Still going to wear green.

It might be time to get some caffeine and park out at the kitchen counter. I wish I could speak Korean to tell my roommate.

This kind of reminds me of the conversation I have every time I have to explain why I don't get gas at Citgo. "Uh, Venezuela?" "...What's wrong with Venezuela?"

One of my grandpa's closest friends and a doctor I worked with is Iranian, and it's been so ugly over there for so long that he won't talk about it.

APATHY. IT'S TIME FOR AMERICA TO GET THE FUCK OVER IT, FOR CHRIST'S SAKE.

And yeah, from what I've read, it's really bad over there.

I'm actually quite glad the international community isn't paying attention. All they've ever done is fucked my homeland up whenever they've decided to look at us by forcing their values and their ideals onto us, manipulating our governments, killing our democratically elected Presidents, and destroying our nation because they want to use us. Iran is the country it is today because of the attention from the rest of the world.

Don't get me wrong: I don't like Ahmadinejad at all. But I also know my own country enough to know that the second the rest of the world puts pressure on us to do something, the right-side extremists will use this as vindication of their position, and the left-side moderates will end up falling into line, uniting with their political opponents in the need to preserve Iranian national independence and identity.

Judging from what I've seen of the rally so far, I don't think they need international pressure, just international support. And that's what I want to raise awareness for.

The second one world leader says they support Mousavi, particularly if it's an American one, Iran will react the way it always does and pressure in the nation will ratchet up. I'm so afraid of all of the work the reformists have done being undone because of this.

(Raina, after I typed it I realised it might have sounded like I was angry about you posting this, and I'm not. I had a doctor's appointment that made me vanish for an hour, so I couldn't get it, but I just want to say: I am glad that you care.)

I've been following this thing on Twitter and while I think it's awesome that something like twitter was useful, I think it's pathetic that that's what I've gotten all my updates for this from!
