AIDS

okay here is what i think. AIDS mothers should not be able to get pregnant and give birth to a child. Isn't that child at risk for AIDS or something? Why would a woman even think to punish a child for the rest of its life by cursing it with AIDS? AIDS people should just not be allowed to have sex or something, or make them sterile.

making a person with AIDS sterile would not prevent the spread of the virus. mothers that do wish to have a child that are inflicted with AIDS should be informed that their child will go through much suffering and probably wont last longer than the recorded time, not sure of the number. what many people do not realize is the fact that AIDS is not just spread through sexual intercourse, but through any bodily fluid contact. IV needles, open wounds, blood of any sort. why do you think that your not supposed to have open wounds at school? why do you think they ask you to go to a (semi-)sterile enviroment if you do happen to have something like a bloody nose or a bleeding wound of any sort? i never thought someone that was educated would make an incredably misinformed comment on the thing such as you did here.

just be lucky that the virus cannot survive unless in a bodily fluid, if it were to become airborn then we would all be screwed.

haha they should be informed? excuse me but what if she still wants to have a child? she is will to let a child suffer for her own pleasure? that is wrong on so many levels because you are sentencing a child to death, pretty much. I can't believe some people just don't want to think of the child... it is quite saddening. Making a woman stelile would prevent her from getting pregnant, its not that big of a deal if she has AIDS, she should have more sense than to get pregnant anyways. It's called adoption?

why not just line up every creature with HIV/AIDS and kill them?

It's moments like this when I'm incredibly disappointed of you. Sterilizing AIDS infected people isn't the end all be all solution to ending AIDS. In fact, it's a heart breaking argument, so unoriginal that it confirms my belief that you have been brainwashed into them. Here's the thing. The argument for sterilizing AIDS patients have gone on for, who knows how long, and there is no straight answer to it. No winning side. In my opinion, the truly immoral people in this argument are the ones to believe that there is a moral side. Either way, the mother goes through the pain, or the child does. To uphold one life over the other is incredibly cruel. It is also selfish as you are thinking of ways to make yourself feel better about the world, and not about the actual patients feeling better about the world. Everyone has rights in this country that you love so much, Emily. Meaning, a mother with AIDS has the right to have a child, it is not harming the child, but bringing in a life to a lifestyle that is a disadvantage. Life isn't fair. ( ... )

Thanks Sun ^_^ but i still think it is more cruel to allow a mother with aids to purposefully endanger a child, I am sorry if i care about that. you say that the aids mothers have rights, but i think that the right of a person are able to be limited if it endangers a life... and it is nearly 100% that the child will get AIDS (pain and suffering for a child....) its horrible that you can think that way and i am saddened and disappointed by you... a mother should be willing to sacrifice for an unborn child... only a monster would want to do that to an innocent baby...

You're less absorbent than a rock, and an incredible bitch. All you did was read what I wrote, and repeated what you had said earlier. You did not even consider anything I said at all. Or else, you would have responded in a way that would have been responding to what I have been saying.

I guess, then, I'm for protecting "monsters." And am a friend to one incredibly cruel one.

Wow, freaking calm down. What you have to remember is that this is HER LJ and she should be free to say whatever she wants. She shouldn't be called an idiot or a bitch just for saying what she believes.

wow i thought you were smarter than that, that is a very sad way of thinking. sure, the idea of bearing a child if the mother has HIV could be considered cruel to the child, and the anonymous is correct in saying the only way to get rid of HIV/AIDS is to kill everyone, but that doesnt make them right, moral or rash ideas. saying that people with HIV/AIDS should not be allowed to have sex or make them sterile defies one of the most basic abilities of nature and rules of survival: the ability to reproduce to create offspring. how do you know that by some magic fluke that a child born to an infected mother doesnt some how develop an immunity to HIV? i know that there is practically a 0% chance of that happening, but what if?

stupid comment due to my analytical brain that doesnt seem to want to stfu right now: you also only mention AIDS, when you say that, do you include those with HIV as well?

DUH! THANKS for calling me stupid for something i believe in. i appreciate it......

wow you guys are like really mean...YOU ALL SADDEN ME YOU ALL DISAPPOINT ME! i dont care what you think, i just dont think an AIDS mother should be allowed by law to give birth...if she so happens to get pregnant than she is a fucking idiot and she has cursed a child because of her stupidity....i cant believe you arent thinking about the child...it would be dieing...it would suffer....how cruel you people can be...

i am sorry for calling you an idiot. i understand the child would be dead in probably less than a year, but this arguement totally depends on how you feel about this situation, we obviously have different opinions.

what irritated me the most about what you said is how you said it, not the actual content. it seems to be spoken by someone who is only considering one side of the arguement, not stopping to think of the other possibilities.

okay so 75% of babies born to mothers with HIV dont get HIV (w/o medical treatment) 90% dont get HIV (with treatment) hmmmm...it also says "that Expectant mothers who test HIV positive are commonly advised to abort or to take AZT, a highly toxic chemical compound originally created for use as a cancer treatment."

I was also talking about AIDS hun, not HIV ^_^
