Given what this ship is sailing through, the occasional instibility isn't surprising.

You left out the possibility of both happening at the same time, which I think is just as likely as either.

I guess I would go with environmental.

In general, effects that alter the environment (or appears to) are much more common than those that alter the mind, at least in my experience before coming to this ship.

I will also admit that I would prefer it as well.

I can't really pick up on much of a pattern or tell you what'd come next. But I can tell you that there have been repeats of certain phenomena in the past.

But then another thing that I guess people don't think about is that there might be some things that the Barge is going to pass through that makes it temperamental, regardless of who's steering it.

Because he's not afraid of being wrong in unimportant situations.
