1) What is this bullshit?
This bullshit is an original character-based Pokemon game, set in its own universe, which is a bit darker than most Pokemon series.
2) Original character only? Why?
Since it’s a different universe with a different history, it was deemed too difficult to properly translate the canon characters over to this new universe.
3) Oh, well. That’s cool anyway. How can I join?
Sorry, but joining is currently an invite-only thing.
4) Invite-only? What’s that mean?
It means you can only join if a current member invites you! And once you’re a member, you can invite people too!
5) But I don’t know anyone in the game! How can I get an invite, then?
Sorry, them’s the breaks. You can’t.
6) Okay, fine. So I’ve been invited, now what?
Well, now you apply with a character! Once that’s approved, then you make an intro post and be ridiculously awesome with us.
7) Is the game first-person or third-person?
First-person.
8) So we all start with one or two low-level pokemon. How do we get more?
Well, generally, you can only catch one a week, with exceptions being made for events. And we’ll leave the catching up to you! No need to clear it with us, just do it. However, do it within reason! No catching strong pokemon way above your level, or fully-evolved forms when you’re still level 5. Be reasonable about it, or you might lose capture rights.
Balls are provided by the shops, and like in the games, which balls you can get are decided by how many badges you have. So with no badges, you can only get normal Pokeballs (and probably ugly, old ones at that), but as your number of badges increase, you’ll be able to get Great Balls, Ultra Balls, and eventually even variants like Repeat or Timer Balls.
9) How do I get a starter/legendary/fossil?
Starters can be assumed, either from character backstory, or from just getting a pokeball, going out, and capturing one. People are armed, so you can try to take a Pokemon down enough single-handed to catch it! Legendaries will appear in future events, while fossils will also be given out in events.
10) What Pokemon can I start with?
Any, as long as it’s low-level and you have a good reason! The standard starters can be given out by friendly professors, or you can have caught a wild Pokemon that lives in your characters’ home area, or you could have them go out into the island’s wilderness and grab the first Pokemon they find. Just remember, it needs to be one they could have acquired naturally, and you can’t start out with a super-high level Dragonite or whatever- The Pokemon itself would never accept it.
11) Okay, what about fights?
Much like catching, really! A fight with a wild Pokemon can be written on your own, and fight between two players is to be resolved between the fighters! Write it out and make it cool. If you can’t decide who wins, contact a mod and we’ll run stuff through a battle generator for you.
12) You said in the world stuff that fights can seriously injure Pokemon?
Well, Pokemon Center technology does heal them to full health, so long as you can get there and they’re not dead. So if you want your Pokemon to get seriously injured, it can happen, or it can be avoided as long as both trainers aren’t going to fight their Pokemon to that point!
13) How many characters can I app?
Current limit is five. This may get raised or even done away with in the future! We shall see.
14) What PBs can I use for my OC?
Any! Live-action, anime, manga, comics, whatever it is, you can use it.
15) Even if it’s a PB already used in the game?
Okay, that’s the one exception. If you talk it over with the player already using it and they agree, or there’s a justification (twins or some such) then it will be acceptable, but otherwise, no.
16) I want to app a gym leader!
Certainly! However, being a place of higher skill and power, the gym leaders of this region don’t rely on a specific type, instead focusing on certain strategies- One might use a strategy of constant switching to target an enemy’s elemental weakness, while another might focus on use of battle items, or another might use mimicry to turn the opponent’s on strength and skill against them. Be creative with your strategy!
As a note, the Gym Leaders, being public officials, have pros and cons! They were ineligible for the tournament before the game started, so they all have their full, high-level party. However, they also have duties to perform, such as patrols to stop crime, help those injured in the wild, and fend off any attacks on people, whether from evil trainers, or wild Pokemon. And they have to accept any and all challengers! A Gym Leader who doesn’t perform these duties will get removed from that position, and be stripped of their Pokemon as well, so be aware of that!
Oh, and there’s also only eight Gym Leaders, so if all slots are taken, you’re out of luck.
17) Can I app a villain?
Even more certainly! Simply apping an evil or antagonistic trainer is fine, or if you want to app a member of Shuttle Corporation’s grunts, by all means! But these also have their pros and cons to keep in mind! If you’re part of Shuttle’s grunts, you’ll also get a couple of high-level Pokemon, with the benefit of them being brainwashed to serve you (unless you abuse them too hard, at least)! The downside is, you’ll likely need to go undercover, as there’s a lot of trainers very angry about what happened, and they may decide to gang up on you to get their Pokemon back. If you’re okay with that, go ahead and app one! It would be fun.
18) Who is Shuttle Corporation, anyway.
…. Team Rocket. It’s Team Rocket.
19) Oh. That’s lame.
Sue me.
20) So why should my character go collect badges?
Because the island only recognizes people with badges! If you’ve got none, you get crappy lodging on the outskirts of the city, you can’t buy much at the item store, you won’t earn as much money from fights, puppies will pee on you, and the sun and sky itself will call you a wuss. On the other hand, once you get badges, you get to move into better housing, you can buy better items, you get more money, shirts will fly open spontaneously around you, and the Old Spice Guy will start telling people how great you are.
There’s nothing stopping you from deciding you’re happy with your current number of badges and just settling into something there, but that might make people mad
.
21) So what happens when I collect all 8 badges?
Haven’t you played the games? With all eight badges, you are eligible to fight the Elite Four. Unlike other regions, though, they are hidden throughout the island. Once you have all eight badges, you still have to find out where they’re hidden, and go challenge them. Win, and you’re the Champion of the island! … But then, once anyone else beats the Elite Four, they’ll challenge you for that title of Champion as well. Defend it well!
22) So can I apply as an Elite Four or the Champion, too?
Well, no, there’s no Champion right now. But the Elite Four, sure, but the same restrictions as the Gym Leaders apply. And there’s only four, so once they’re filled, no more!
23) So is there a chat room to talk to people!?
Yes! On mIRC, the Lunarnet server, the chat is #skittyonwailord
24) …
… look, I didn’t name it, okay? And there is to be no Skitty on Wailord in this game.
