Hey everyone, I'm selling my old bike and will probably buy a new one. I've put it on craigslist, but just in case, I'm going to put it up here too. Advertisement follows, it's an old clunker that always needs work, but it does run. If you like restoring stuff, it's cheap. Anyway, here it is:
This is a 4-cylinder 1972 Honda CB500. It starts and runs (I just drove it to work and back), but, like many older bikes, it has a number of quirks and issues that you should be aware of. It needs new mufflers, unless you like the "loud bike" sound, in which case it sounds great. The clutch slips somewhat, and it has a misfiring issue. The engine seems to have good compression, and the plugs were replaced a few hundred miles ago. The ignition has been replaced with a switch by a previous owner. Starting can be hard, especially in the winter months. These sort of "issues" are the reason I'm letting it go for this cheap. Asking $500, but make me an offer!
It's a nice little bike, but it just needs more love than I'm able to give right now. If you're into
rebuilding, this bike is solid, and ready to be spruced back up! If you're just looking for a rider, bear in mind that this (and all old bikes) will take some work to maintain, but could be well worth it.
The state never sent me the title when I bought this bike, but I do have a valid registration and tabs, and am willing to write up a bill of sale, or come in to the Dept. of Licensing, or both. :)Make me an offer, if you're around the tri-cities, we can work something out...
