So maybe it's a faux pas for someone at work to call me while my mouth is full of blood and gauze, but honestly, it was funny ( Read more... )

I had my wisdom teeth pulled when I was 16. They were supposed to give me nitrous oxide. When my mom and I arrived at the dentist, they informed us that they didn't have any air to mix the nitrous with, and so they wrote me a prescription for some Valium and sent us to the Fred Meyer across the street. When we got back from Freddy's, and I had already taken the Valium, they were unloading tanks from a truck which had just arrived.

So, I got both.

The dentist had warned my mom that the Valium would cause me to be very drowsy for hours. However, I don't think it had any effect; I was up later than normal that night playing video games.

The nitrous made everything hilarious, though.

You know, they were going to give me valium too, but my sister told me that she had had a very negative reaction to it, becoming all nervous and emotionally twitchy instead of relaxed, at one of her dental visits. So, I turned it down.

You must have been REALLY "cool with the world, man".....

If you start feeling crunching, just think of cereal. Cereal's crunchy. (This probably doesn't help you. While I've had five permanent teeth pulled at the same time, I've never had my wisdom's out. The memory is blissfully far away from me by now.)

Woah, which permanent teeth? Do you have enough room in there to actually use your wisdom teeth, then?

As it happens, my memories are fading fast, too. :) Hopefully I'll even be able to eat some of that cereal soon....

I'm under the opinion that its better not to be completly under for two reasons. It's hard on your body to go complety under, and also the dentist doesn't have you watching, so he has less reason to be carefull if you are under. I didn't get put under and recovered within a day or so. Here's to hoping that you will too!

I didn't think about the issue of being "an audience" to keep the dentist honest, but now that you mention it, they didn't let liz into the room (even though there was a convenient observation chair), and were a little "surprised" when I turned down the general anesthesia, so you could really be onto something there.....

You. Have. The. Pain. Tolerance. Of. Many. Men.

Now I feel bad for having been "drinking too much blood to play vampire."

Oh, although - I also heard from Misty that she was gone to portland, and so couldn't play herself.

But when can we do it? Is steve really leaving this coming weekend? :(
