Here we are again... a bar. I have worked in bars, hung out in bars, wooed the fairer sex in bars, laughed in bars, cried in bars, celebrated in bars, drowned my pain in bars... Interesting night. Reason number one why I tend to avoid bars, I can't tell if a guy is hitting on me or not. But no, things aren't the way they used to be. You can't ask someone to do something and expect them to follow your wishes. Anyways, I'll see you tonight. I'm brining birthday cake for Quinn. He doesn't know.

It seems that I never can grouse about anything in my life, because someone I know always has something much better to grouse about. As for the woman at issue, I'd give her the benefit of her profession. If what you deal with every day is people at their worst, which is what you typically see in divorces, you tend to get more than a bit cynical and suspicious. It doesn't justify the initial behavior, but at least she felt bad about it after having had time to cool down and think.

Indeed, and that is probably why I did not rake her over the coals here. However, the total about-face was strange to say the least.

Maybe you're just that irresistable. Or upon reflection, she realized that you weren't an ass, but rather a nice guy who made a nice gesture with no expectations, given that it was to have been anonymous, and such men (and women) are a rarity when your work centers around divorce.
