The Update today is mixed. Mom came home yesterday from the facility. Of course she has just had a month of being waited on hand and foot so I knew in my heart there were going to be problems. But the last 12 hours have been ridiculous. I understand that things are different- she is not as able to take care of herself as she was before the surgery

I understand your situation well enough, as I'm in a slightly similar, but infinitely better, situation, as you are well aware. You know that you can always blow off steam in my direction. It sucks big time.

And unfortunately it will just get worse as her dementia worsens, meaning, the mental games and struggles as she regresses into an infant like mentality.

Well... one possibility is try to get a roommate. Someone to move in and help pay the bills. That might take enough of a bite out of the financials to allow you to explore options that are not doable under your current situation.
