I think I'm happy to know that my mother was here. [There's a bit of a laugh.] And in good enough health to clean my room, it seems.

But I know not everyone was as pleased. That's...somewhat unfortunate, but it's to be expected. Sometimes people can be hurtful, even to those they're supposed to care about.

[Private to Petronilla]

Are you ready to speak again? Or do you need a few days to recover?

[Private to Howie]

Are you alright? I read the conversation they had and I can only assume...

[Note for Svetlana // handwritten and put in a book]

Svetlana,

You are my light, as I have told you many times before. It's why I gave you the name I did. I admire what you're doing here, but I know that you're running from something. If it's me, if it's about what's happened, then please come home. You know I will always love you. If you're running from your job, your duties, someone else, I can only hope that you find the courage I know you have to face those problems.

I could write you so much more, but I won't. You know everything I would want to say to you. We're so alike, you and I.
