see, i agree with you. there's a lot of macho feminism in america, but i dont see whats so wrong about compromising between career and family. a homemaker is nothing to be ashamed of - its bloody difficult to do. i admire my mom daily for being a homemaker and a businesswoman. if my family had a say, i'd be hitched in an year or so. so what...i dont find the concept terrifying. rah rah anti-marriage sentiments are all good and fine to a certain extent, specially when youre having tons of fun dating around. but something steady aint so bad either. and a relationship shouldnt have to result in you sacrificing your passions. if that's the case then maybe its not worth it. but in any case, too much cynicism in this country wrt marriage/commitment. as bridget jones so aptly put it: i dont want to end up being eaten by an alsatian.
=P
end rant.

Living with my Aunt Connie these past two weeks, I have seen my baby cousin Emily a lot and gotten to know her, and know the intensity and amazing grace of life.

I've always known I want kids... but to actually have them is another story.

Today I get to baby sit Emily for a while with my cousin Stacey (who is about 8 mos pregnant) as Aunt Connie goes to get a haircut.

I mean, imagine having a person living inside you. That baby inside you is a person, growing and developing. Imagine the weight on your stomach. The soreness from your ankles. The growth and swelling of your breasts as they produce milk in preparation for birth. Imagine the person inside you, moving around, kicking, waiting to get out and become a true life-force, separate from you, of which you will enable to grow and prosper.

I cannot imagine life without that.
