You Floridians have a thing for building a house on a weak foundation. My tip for you for your next home is to create a concrete with re-enforced steel foundation for your home. Even though the humidity may have a bit of impact on it, I believe it should be strong enough to support a 1200-1400 sq ft. home with no worries. Try avoiding the coastal areas, only because they tend to have the weakest soil (which is more succeptable to erosion). In the meantime, instead of using stuco or plaster, use brick. Why? It's rather elementary my dear greek friend.
