Greg looked at the storefront and wondered if he should really go in. The sign was still in the window, and had been yesterday when he'd gone to fix Eloise's table. He'd been planning on going in after he was done, but there was quite a few people in there when he'd walked past, so he'd kept going. If he were going to be laughed at, he'd prefer not to have witnesses.
But there wasn't anyone in there now, that he could see, so if he was going to do this, he should do so now. Steeling himself, he pulled open the door and an incredibly loud air horn sounded.
Bloody brilliant.

George was reconfiguring the giant stack of extendable ears when the air horn sounded. He grinned and wondered what would happen if one was actually wearing an extendable ear at the time.
A vaguely familiar looking young man walked in and George waved. "Have a look around, mate, and give a yell if you have any questions."

Greg saw the Weasley - George, he thought - and nodded. He'd never been in and he took a bit of time to look at the shelves. He'd seen the results of many of the products, and he was tempted to pick up a few. There were a couple he'd like to try out on some of the gits who kept glaring at him. Wouldn't help the glaring, really, but it'd be funny.
Shaking himself, he stepped up to the counter and cleared his throat. "Actually, I'm here about the sign in the window."

George looked up at the sign in the window. They'd recently put up a new sign lauding the Gummy Gigglers, but that wasn't where the bloke was looking.
"The wanted sign?" George set down the last box and walked over to the counter. It didn't occur to him until he reached the counter that he had no application form to fill out. He shrugged and leaned against the counter, smiling. "Okay, so I don't actually have an application because I neglected to make one. How about you tell me a bit about yourself and why you want the job."

Bugger all that was a rather broad question. Greg ran a hand over the back of his head and nodded.
"Um, yeah, well, I'm taking my NEWTs at the end of the month, so I don't have them yet. Not sure how well I'll do - not a Ravenclaw - and ... I want it because I think I can handle stocking shelves." He swallowed and shrugged. "The product testing wouldn't be so bad, either."
It seemed bad manners to say he wanted the job because he didn't know what else he could do. He supposed he could go to Knockturn, and would if this didn't pan out.

Stocking shelves... George hopped up on the counter and crossed his legs indian fashion. "Okay, I know I should know you but... tell me your name, yeah? Then give me a bit of background. For example, what do you thikn is funny?"

Greg squared his shoulders. This was it. At least he'd gotten a few answers in before he'd be laughed out of the store.
"Name's Greg Goyle," he said, and he cleared his throat. He didn't know what he thought was funny - he didn't do much laughing, which in retrospect, made this an odd choice for him. He should have thought this through. "And I dunno. Haven't bought any of your stuff, honestly. Saw it enough at Hogwarts, though. Canary Creams are rather brilliant."

"Goyle." It all fell into place. This boy was one of the thugs that used to follow around that Malfoy git. "You were a pretty fair beater. Mind, not as good as we were..." George winked to show that he was teasing.
"The canary creams were a bit hit. We still sell them in fact. Hair color-changing lollies, mustache macaroons, fever fudge, all kinds of tasty things that temporarily alter you. This place is rather light hearted, or at least that's the goal. Sound like something up your alley?"

Greg wasn't sure if calling him just 'fair' was entirely accurate, but he smiled faintly anyway. At Weasley's question, though, he had to shrug. No, it really didn't sound like something he'd be a good fit for, but ... he needed a job.
"Could be, I suppose. Not exactly light hearted, though." No sense in lying. It was obvious, anyhow. He shook his head. This had been a stupid idea, and if he'd thought about it for more than two minutes, he'd have seen it.

George was wondering why the bloke wanted the job in the first place. He also wondered if he should be worried about the fact that he'd teased him. Details were coming back and he didn't think Goyle liked to be teased.
"You were in my brother Ron's class, right? He works here mornings. Are you doing the NEWT thing too? He says it's a ton of work."

Ron Weasley worked there? This job was looking more and more to be as far from his cup of tea as he could get.
"Yeah, wish they'd just have let us take them months ago. Easier than all the revising," Greg said, shrugging.

"Never liked those things, myself. My twin and I were never all that great with books." He gestured around the store, "Spent far too much time trying to make people laugh, I guess."
He looked at Mr. Goyle and asked the obvious question, "Still interested in the job, or is it one of those things that sounded better from outside the shop?"

Greg winced, running a hand through his hair. He was an idiot.
"It'd be a good job, but I don't think ... yeah. Better when I saw the sign - thanks though, for talking to me," he said, shoving his hands into his pockets.

George frowned when he winced, not liking to leave the boy feeling bad. "Hey, never a problem. Thanks for stopping by." George summoned a box of Canary Creams and offered the boy one. "For the next person that annoys you?"

Greg took one and smiled. "Thanks."
He headed for the door, prepared, this time, for the air horn, though that didn't make it any better. Once he was on the street, he sighed, shoving the Canary Cream into his pocket. Back to square one, it seemed.
