Each step is painful, and each step makes her smile. She knows she should be nervous -- she should hate this. She should be a normal girl, not a shadow, not nothing.
But that's all behind her, because each step feels like living. Each thunder-and-lightning shockwave is like a shot of drugs through her veins and she feels alive, nothing like when she had a heart. Who needs one of those, really? Certainly not she.
She dances, boots tamping out a loud pattern on the floor as she dodges and twirls and the glass breaks around her feet, not there but tangible and then she's hanging back, glaringgrinning at the boy who is scowling at her, fingers clenched around the hilt of that blade so tightly she can see the yellowy white of his knuckles beneath his skin.
The sea of glass never parts, and the storm forever rages inside her, a microcosm of explosives in the hollow where her heart should be. She didn't need it anyway. It just gets in the way.
She carries on dancing and her storm never ends and the drug-like electricity spills from her fingers, leaving charred marks on the whitewhitewhite floor.
There was never a calm before the storm, but Larxene likes it better that way.
