She receives some of Kuu's things, too.
Everything is going well for them. She has only been a Haibane for a few weeks, but all the same, she and Kuu have bonded, just as she has bonded with the rest of the girls in Old Home.
She is a little startled when she receives the items -- why is Kuu giving away everything she owned? Not that a Haibane can truly own something -- indeed, even their beds and their Old Home are abandoned by the townsfolk -- but they were still Kuu's.
Something dawns on her the day she sees Kuu leave and her halo -- or rather, the light from it, as if it itself were made of light -- flickers. Perhaps it's a trick of her eyes.
And then one day Kuu is gone, without a trace. There are no remnants of her in the town -- her things do not belong to her anymore and thus the memories there will one day disappear.
Kuu is gone, and everyone in Old Home says the Day of Flight is a positive thing -- but how can it be, if you lose one of your best friends?
The black stains on her charcoal wings give her no answers.
She hates the Day of Flight.
