Summary: Sora discovers a little-known fact.
---
Considering the results of last time Sora tried to sneak through Riku's window, he was taking the front door this time. He was let in without question -- they visited each other often, and despite catcalls and general teasing from Riku's elder brother, they weren't often questioned.
He paused when he reached the top of the stairs -- a small snuffling sort of noise, like... the only thing he could pair the sound up with was the pigs along the banks of the Timeless River. A wet sort of sound. Sora shrugged, moving closer to the elder boy's room and pausing again.
A hiccup?
What was this, then? Had his little sister eaten bread too fast or something? He always got hiccups when he ate bread too fast. But, it dawned on him slowly, Ai's room was on the ground floor, not up here.
The door to Riku's room was open a crack, and Sora wasted no time in pressing his ear against the crack. Sniffling. A general blowing-your-nose kind of wet sound, and it was coming from Riku's room.
There were also the sounds of people speaking. Was he watching something?
"Heeeey, Riku!" He burst into the room. Riku's head snapped up, turning to look over his shoulder and the back of the pull-out-couch he had claimed as his bed some time ago. "Whatcha doin'?"
Sora paused. Double-take.
Bloodshot eyes -- bright red cheeks. Tear-tracks, and this was where logic stopped and all chaos began. "Riku...?"
Riku turned back around in a blur of silvery hair. "Go away."
Blue eyes disappeared once, reappeared again as Sora blinked, climbed over the couch, and plopped down beside his friend-and-more. "What's the matter?" His gaze fell on the TV -- tiny, thirteen-inch screen, with a VHS slot. It was old and didn't have very good picture, but they watched things on it all the time -- and today it seemed Riku had been watching something alone. "What's this?"
"... It's just," began the other boy, blowing his nose with a honk, "It's tragic, you know?"
Sora stared at him for a moment, torn between laughter and complete bafflement. "O-oh," was all he said, though, and threw an arm around the elder's neck, tugging him to his chest. "That's okay. I still like you. I think it's cute you're a sap! I wouldn't expect that from you! You're so cool all the time, you know?"
Riku gave a faint snort, but his eyes fell back on the TV. Sora could feel his tears seeping into his shirt. "Stop watching, if you're going to cry," he added, a little gentler this time, but his eyes were aflame with humor.
"It's good, though," replied the silver-haired boy with a little bit of finality. "Watch with me."
"All right," replied Sora with a little grin. Then, after a moment's contemplation: "Sap."
"...Shut up."
