For around $30, you can get a portable cd player that will read cd's with mp3 files burned as data. This is roughly a penny or two per hour of music on a disc... assuming, of course, that you already have a massive library of music waiting to be burned on 10-hour mixed cds.

Most are reliable enough to work and inexpensive enough to replace in two years when they stop working.
