Today I attended a management seminar called, "The Power of Positive Thinking" by Ed Foreman (I think that was his name).  I was all set to enjoy a teaching on how I can help a team I lead think more on the positive.  I was hoping to get some good feedback as to how to deal with folks who are having a difficult time being positive.  I should have ( Read more... )

So... you went to this seminar on how to develop positive thoughts and came out pretty much negative about the whole experience?

My condolences. I hope your company was paying for you to attend the seminar, because it would be a real shame if this guy took some of your hard-earned cash!

I've encountered that sort of nonsense from a distance before. In a way, it's similar to gnosticism, in that the solution to every problem you face is mental. (heh - of course, many of their problems ARE mental.)

The company paid for the class. I am glad I didn't spent the $300 for this day. The lunch was great, though. So, I guess there was something positive about it? :=)

How well I understand you! For some time I was engaged with a business that itself could be very good but the way it was taught by managers/mentors - it was exactly like that: focused on "I can do anything", "(help people and) make a lot of money", etc. Terrible. Many times I wanted to stand up and say: people, wake up! Most of them considered themselves to be Christian. Well, what would they expect with such attitude and thoughts on the Judgement day?...
