It was cold outside, but the slight snow that had been falling a few nights ago had melted away again and by now, it was only raining.
Tegoshi smiled to himself as he opened up his umbrella and stepped out of the building to walk down the street.
He’d come by train today, so he had to walk now. But he was fine with that. He had been at Masuda’s this morning and since he hadn’t gone by car to his place, Tegoshi had to take the train now back to his apartment.
He turned the umbrella in his grip, made it spin around, so that water sprinkled from it. He sang to himself, the melody of AiAiGasa and thought about that he hadn’t shared an umbrella with Masuda for quite some time.
Of course, he had been quite late that morning; not exactly too late, since he really had rushed to the studios, but slightly too late. No one had been mad at him, though.
But even so he had spent a beautiful morning with Masuda they still hadn’t talked. They had accepted that they couldn’t go on without each other; that they needed each other, but they hadn’t talked about it.
Instead they had kept touching and kissing; the only words falling had been words of affection.
Tegoshi stopped humming, as he heard his mobile ringing and searched for it in his pockets, found it and flipped it open to answer the call.
“It’s raining”, Masuda said without greeting him.
“Yeah, I am walking to the station”, Tegoshi answered. “And I’m all alone under my umbrella.”
He heard Masuda laugh slightly. “I am all alone under mine as well.”
“So, now that we’re talking over the phone, it’s a little as if we’d share one, isn’t it?”
“You’re a hopeless romanticist, Yuya.”
Smiling, Tegoshi walked on, started to hum the melody again and waited for Masuda to fall in, join his singing.
“It’s been a while that only the two of us sang together”, Tegoshi said, happy with hearing Masuda’s singing voice.
“Weren’t you the one having enough of Tegomass?” Masuda’s voice sounded hurt as he said that.
The younger one bit his lip and gripped the umbrella tighter. “You know I didn’t mean it like that.”
“I know”, Masuda answered quietly. “It still hurt.”
Tegoshi nodded; knowing Masuda couldn’t see it, so he forced his voice to sound. “I didn’t mean to.”
“I know”, the older one repeated. “It’s okay.”
“No, it’s not”, Tegoshi murmured. “I’ll make up for it; promise.”
“I guess you made up for a huge part already this morning.” Masuda’s voice sounded much kinkier than before. “I guess, I’ve already forgiven you.”
Tegoshi smiled. “You’re giving in too easily.”
“Well, I can’t help it. I really like your body.”
Laughing, Tegoshi stopped in front of the entrance to the station and looked up to the sky; seeing the rain still pouring down. “There’s so much more you like about me.”
“You think so?”, Masuda answered. “That’s just your self-centred thinking.”
“Is it?”
Masuda fell silent for a while, but then said: “Probably not.”
“I love you, Massu.”
Even though he could not see it, he knew Masuda smiled widely, and as he answered, Tegoshi also heard it in his voice. “I love you, too, Yuya.”
“See, you’re saying Yuya, not sexy body.”
Masuda laughed. “I need to go in again.”
“Okay.”
“Take care.”
Tegoshi smiled. “You, too.” Then he hung up and stayed for a while.
He remained under his umbrella and watched the rain dripping down to the ground from the sky.
And he smiled, as he started to sing their song again in a clear and pure voice.
