“What do you think?”
Jin tilted his head and let the taste linger on his tongue for a little longer, before he swallowed.
“That’s not it”, he murmured then.
“You know, if you keep going like this”, Dominic told him, “you’ll get drunk, and the party’s been settled for tonight; not now. This is the seventh mix and you’re still not satisfied.”
“It just isn’t what I had in mind”, Jin said in defense and shrugged a shoulder, pushing the glass back to the barkeeper.
“Let me see what else you have. Strawberry is too sweet. And I hated the raspberry mix.”
His friend rolled his eyes. “I’ll tell Josh to come and try.”
Jin just nodded. “You know”, he said then, leaning in to the barkeeper. “I know you think of red, that’s why you’re mixing me all that red stuff here.”
“That would be logical, wouldn’t it?”
Jin shrugged pulled a face. “It’s too obvious.”
“But it should be fruity”, Dominic interfered in their conversation.
Agreeing to that, Jin sat back again. He hadn’t thought it would get that difficult. He had had no problems in choosing the other drinks, approving of the juices and liquors mixed for them. But this one was special.
This would be his special drink.
It couldn’t be just anything. It had to be something he would think of as fitting for its name.
“Let me see what you have there, I will pick them.”
Giving in, the barkeeper let Jin walk behind the counter. He watched his guest taking bottles, looking at them closely, before shaking his head over and over again.
Jin opened a bottle, sniffled, pulled a face. They just weren’t right.
“You know this is all…” He stopped, looked at a bottle in front of him and pulled it out.
“Oh, he found something”, Dominic announced. “This is finally coming to an end.”
Jin just grinned and showed the bottle to the barkeeper. “What would you combine this with?”
Kazuya groaned, as his mobile made a beeping sound next to him. He rolled over, gripping it with his eyes still closed and opened the message he had just received.
It was almost three in the night and he had just gotten into bed, so who dared waking him again?
As he read Jin’s name, he made the mental note to tell the older one about different time zones and time difference between Tokyo and Los Angeles sometime soon.
Opening the message, he frowned.
Why was Jin sending him a goddamn picture of his drink? Who cared for what Jin was drinking, when Kazuya could be peacefully asleep?
He clicked to the text, wondering what it was about.
It’s Lovejuice. It took me several experiments to find what was missing.
Added Absolute Mango now, and it’s perfect.
Kazuya didn’t really grasp it first, then he chuckled tiredly, before he typed in a reply.
It was strange, having a relationship that ran on nothing but text mails, but it somehow worked.
You shouldn’t have alcohol experiments in the middle of the day. And your Lovejuice needs mango flavour, for sure. Anything else would make me suspicious.
PS: use Google to find out about time differences.
Jin replied with a simple Love you, too, what made Kazuya grin, before he got back to sleep.
