075.Illusion
“Tegomass on stand by!”
Tegoshi hurried over to where he should be and took the spot next to Masuda.
They weren’t official at all, not yet, even though they had been told they would become official sometime during the next year.
Of course, it would all look like it was a sudden decision, something no one would have expected. But truth was, Johnny himself had told them already that he wouldn’t waste their potential as a couple.
As a couple, Tegoshi thought again and threw Masuda a look, earning a gentle smile.
They were being praised for how they harmonised over and over again. Even the other members were stunned, when they were singing and occasionally, Kusano would tease them with that.
“I can’t harmonise that part with anyone but Tesshi”, Kusano would chirp, whenever Masuda had problems finding the right tone, singing with anyone else.
Masuda would just frown at him, telling him it was just difficult, since he always had to sing those difficult parts, after all.
But Tegoshi knew that Kusano wasn’t that wrong, after all. Whenever he had to sing a part of a song with Masuda together, whenever they sang Zutto together, even when it had been for the first time, it all went smoothly.
Tegoshi liked how he was with his Massu.
He dared to call him that, to think of him as his Massu, since he had been the one to start calling him that in the first place. And after all, Tegoshi was the one Masuda was closest to.
Of course, there was Shige, Tegoshi thought. Shige was close to Masuda, too, they had known each other for so long.
But Tegoshi knew he was special to Masuda, someone who had become irreplaceable.
Tegoshi had become his perfect singing partner.
When they went on stage, when they started the song, soft lines of sand fading in a hourglass, love fading between lovers and how they wanted to hold on to it by all means, their eyes met over and over again.
And Tegoshi wanted to believe that somewhere, deep within, all this had a meaning.
He wanted to believe in that illusion, that he and his Massu were inseparable.
