Well, I thought Constantine was a LOT better than everyone said, though there is a horrible bit in the middle where they clearly cut a love scene and several impotant plot points.

And Gabriel absolutely rocked.

Gabriel was indeed cool. Their grasp of Catholic doctrine was shite, however. Still, I enjoyed it!

Gabriel was superb! I found JC too cliched (standard american anti-hero) though.

I didn't realise until the film was almost over that it was Tilda Swinton playing Gabriel. Fucking ace, as everyone else has said.

Glad you posted this as I was unsure if I wanted to see Constantine. Now I'm thinking that I will, though it'll probably take about two months to get down here.

Well, hey, you still have to deal with the fact that Keanu is about the most inappropriate person they could have picked: but the visuals are stunning, and quite large amounts of stuff do in fact come, contrary to what I 'd read, from the comics eg the lung cancer plotlne, the angels being copmplete smug bastards (tho it's a shame they cut out Ellie) ... but don't shoot me if you disagree :-)
