School
My life seems to solely consist of school at this point so I haven't had much time for fun writing, but never fear, but I'm hopeful that I can get some fun writing done this weekend when I'm not angsting over my screenplay (which is awesome and I refuse to think otherwise as that would be very bad for my self-confidence). After much deliberation, I've decided to go for the two degrees and am taking four classes this semester and six next term, so don't be surprised if I'm completely bonkers by the time the school year is over and talking about the most random things. :)
I haven't had much of a chance to watch any of my shows yet this year, mostly catching the tail end, but I'm hopeful that once this midterm period finishes I'll have a bit more time for relaxation. It's actually kind of nice having my sister here with me as she forces me to take breaks, mostly because she's hungry and needs to be fed, or because she wants some exercise and doesn't want to go off by herself. It's like having that pony I always wanted. Which would be a much better metaphor if my sister liked vegetables.
Inception
A couple weeks ago, we spent about forty bucks on tickets and popcorn to go see Inception, which probably wasn't the smartest idea as I was busy writing my own script at the time. Needless to say, I loved it and wailed a couple of days about how unworthy I was. Don't be surprised if I post some fanfic later on as a big thank you to Percy for helping me with my own screenplay. I'm thinking some Robert Fisher Jr fic, if that would please you, oh best and most kind best friend? Y/Y?
Jane Austen
Right now, in order to de-stress, the sister and I have decided to marathon the various Jane Austen mini-series. We just finished the latest Emma mini-series on Saturday, which was just as brilliant the first time I saw it. I think I might have to make it official that Mr. Knightly is my ideal Austen man, but I'll probably wait until I've done a picture-essay detailing how awesome the other Austen heroes are (but will probably mock Mr. Darcy a little - I am now sorely tempted to watch P&P as if Mr. Darcy were a Vampire), before declaring Mr. Knightly the winner.
Also, my sister completely agrees with me that the main reason Mr. Knightly agreed to live in his father-in-law's house at the end was so he could have a lake of his very own. Oh, and because it made Emma happy. But mostly for the lake.
Taming of the Shrew
Speaking of famous long-dead British authors, I have finally found a version of Taming of the Shrew that doesn't make me want to burn things and bitch slap random men in the street. Part of a series called Shakespeare Retold, the series took four of Shakespeare's plays and rewrote them for a modern audience while keeping true to the original story. They also did MacBeth with James McAvoy as well as Much Ado About Nothing with Billie Piper and Damien Lewis, A Midsummer Night's Dream. Once I get my greedy hands on the actual DVD's, I'll probably end up doing one of my infamous commentaries for all four of them, but right at this moment, Taming of the Shrew is my favourite. I must have watched it at least ten times already.
Now, I should probably stop procrastinating and continue studying for the midterm 'quiz' I have next class. Man, I wish the time would hurry up so I could get it over with already.
Here's hoping all's well with the rest of you and that you're all managing to keep a firm hold on your sanity as winter starts to descend.
