The next time I get the bright idea to do six classes in one term, somebody bitch slap me. And then, after you've bitch slapped me once, I expect you to slap the other cheek as well. And if you think I still haven't gotten the message through my thick skull yet, I give you full permission to kick me in the knee

Jayne Cobb1. Jayne acquired Boo at the tender age of seven. He found the gun during his maternal grandfather's funeral when he was 'helping' his grandmother to sort through the deceased man's possessions. Boo was the first thing Jayne ever stole. (He came back for the bullets shortly after his hands had grown big enough to actually pull the trigger and a long while after deciding to kill his father ( ... )

So River got her wish. He did outlive them all. Nearly. The poor man. I certainly don't envy him living without River.
My favorite Jayne fact? That he stole Boo when he was seven. I can just see it.
Thank you so much for sharing. Oh, how I love me some Mr. Cobb facts.

I figure Book's words to him in The Message were basically the death sentence for both of them - Book dies before his time and Jayne is the last to die despite the huge price on his head (which has to be huge by that time, especially after he starts assassinating everyone ever involved with the Academy).
With a name like Boo, I figure Jayne and his favourite gun go WAY back.
It was my pleasure! :)

Arthur, the suave, BAMF, GQMF Point Man. BRING IT.
In return, would you like my five facts on him?

Okay, so I'm slightly nervous to give you my personal canon for Arthur as I've only seen the movie once. If I get any actual canon wrong, I apologize beforehand (and hope that you won't hate me too much). Also, I would love to hear your five facts. :)
Arthur: Point Man
1. Arthur grew up on the rough side of the tracks. He was a skinny kid who was small for his age, which meant he was a favourite target. What nobody ever expected though was for him to fight back. He got into his first fist fight his first day of kindergarten. His first knife fight occurred when he was nine-years-old, and he has a scar along the inside of his left arm close to his elbow roughly two inches as a souvenir. You don't want to know how the other guy fared. Arthur has always been ruthless against his opponents.
2. (This fact is influenced by Monochrome) Arthur was born colour blind. It is only in the dream that he can see colour, hence he doesn't need a totem. However, he carries the ( ... )

And way to make me bawl, woman. Especially with fact 4. Though I do like the idea that he came from a rough neighborhood and didn't stand for any shit...and that Dom's one regret about recruiting him when he did is that HE NEVER GOT TO SEE THE MAN IN JEANS DAMMIT. Awwww.
Though I would never have thought of Arthur being colourblind. Once I finish all this, I'm reading that fic.
In the meantime...
Percy's TRUFAX (in her head anyway) About Arthur1) Cobb didn't so much recruit Arthur came banging down his door. A reporter, he'd been catching wind of some rumours about dreams and military experiments with dreams. Clever guy that he was, he followed the breadcrumbs right to Dom and Mal's place. It took a little persistence (and what might be construed as bribery -- see fact 2), but the Cobbs eventually let him in ( ... )

I look forward to hearing your thoughts about the fic - it was one of the first I read after seeing the movie and it really influenced how I view Arthur.
I love the idea that Arthur basically recruited himself (which is now part of my personal canon BTW) - it just makes so much sense for him. He's the type of guy who can't be found unless he wants to be found, and he's the type of guy who you just can't hide from. Also, I'm a big fan of the idea that Dom didn't have to train Arthur in how to use guns or fight - I imagine Arthur was terribly amused when he kicked Dom's ass both at the shooting range and in a regular fight.
Man - I want you to write a fic with Arthur and his mother now. Just him coming home to visit and keeping her in the dark about the true nature of his job.

I have no problems with double or triple dipping! Although again I had a hard time choosing just a few facts to share. :)
River Tam:1. River comes from a long line of Readers. This is the only reason she is able to survive the torture from the Academy. All of her classmates are dead. This is the reason why the Alliance is so desperate to get her back because they want to find out what they did right, never once realizing that River was already a Reader before they tried to make her become one ( ... )
