Dearest Leo... I need you to perform an extraction

My mom convinced dad to watch Inception, whilst on their romantic getaway. After the two hours and twenty-three minutes he spent watching the film (why yes, he did time it), he has concluded that his brain is now broken.

Luckily, the cruise ship had one of the Jason Bourne movies on board, so he should be fine.

And he calls me crazy.

movie: inception, sci-fi makes daddy cry, movie: bourne trilogy, amber is crazy., my dad the fanboy

My father concluded that his brain was also broken after watching Inception, but enjoyed it very much nevertheless. I think what confused him more than the movie was my sister and I have an ardent disagreement about the ending. Glad to see he was able to sit through the entire film. Everyone should experience it at least once.

How goes school? I trust everything is still coming along as scheduled.

Well, at least he enjoyed it. Judging by the amount of crying emoticons my dad used in his text, he didn't enjoy it so much. I'm guessing that the disagreement you and your sister had at the end of the film was whether or not Cobb actually woke up?

As for school, I'm keeping on track with all of my assignments and tests, but just barely. I'm eagerly awaiting the moment when I can start relaxing and hopefully write for fun again. I have so many fic ideas that I want to play with.

Yes, it was an argument as to whether he woke up. I voted yes. She voted no. My father, the turncoat, sided with her. I stand by my belief and there's nothing anyone can do to change my mind!! Unless there's a sequel. In which case I will be victorious or soundly chastised. Either way, there would be a sequel and I would get more Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Who loses in this scenario? Not me.

Glad to hear that school is going well. As a university graduate, I assure you, once you're done for good there's no better feeling in the world. It took me three years to train my brain not to dream about school and wake me up in a panic thinking, "What's due today?!"

I aim toward yes as well. It's just that the movie loses some of its kickass awesomeness if Dom doesn't beat the odds after finally accepting his role in Mal's suicide. But if there is a sequel... well, as long as Joseph Gordon-Levitt returns, I'm not complaining.

Three years?! Yikes! I'm not looking forward to that.

BTW, it's been awhile since I've watched Bones - are Hodgins and Angela finally back together?

Just one more reason to love your dad. In a weird, fanboy-ish, he's-just-as-geeky-as-we-are sort of way. Of course, if "Inception" didn't break his brain, then something's wrong.
(Seriously. First time I saw it, neither I nor those I'd gone to the movie with were capable of forming coherent sentences until we made it to the car and sat there for a good minute or two.)

On the topic of "Inception", I finished your Arthur fic -- in which one learns you do NOT mess with Arthur's mom. Ever. I'll e-mail it to you. Happy weekend. :)

Of course, if "Inception" didn't break his brain, then something's wrong.

Because if he hadn't started crying then clearly Inception could not be classified as sci-fi. I've also been informed that I'm going to have to rewatch it with my mom so that I can explain it to her.

I have read the Arthur fic and there was much squealing. Expect a large email of my squeals either today or sometime this week where I gush uncontrollably over his awesome. XD

THERE'S NO CRYING IN SCI-FI! NONE AT ALL!
*snerk*
Good luck explaining it to your mom. Mine's just taken to humouring me whenever I start babbling. She'll nod, smile, pat my head, then tighten the straps on my nifty white jacket.

Heeeeee! I look forward to your e-mail of squee and shall wait on pins and needles until I see it in my inbox. YAY! :)

There is when my dad watches it. Manly tears. :P

I've had lots of practice explaining movies to my family, so it shouldn't be too hard. Surprisingly, this was the one movie I didn't have to explain to the sister, which is very surprising.

Sorry it's taking so long to get back to you with your review! Schoolwork is attempting to kill my soul. But you will get that long email of squee even if it kills me.

HAHA! Inception was one of the (very few) movies that I've actually seen recently, and I LOVED IT. I was just enthralled the entire time. I think that's because I pretty much understood it (well, what you could actually totally understand, as there were bits and pieces that were meant to be up to interpretation (*cough* ending *cough*))

But my cousin was watching it with me, and she didn't get it at all. Not even after I paused it many times to explain what was going on. So I guess I can see how other people may not like it, even if I personally loved it. XDDDDDDD

I think that one of the reasons I loved Inception so much is because it's the perfect movie to talk about afterwards. I love analyzing films after I've seen them and hearing other people's opinions and Inception is one of the few films you can't not have an opinion on. And there were so many parts up to interpretation, which means that there can be a ton of various theories. Which makes me very happy indeed. XD

"Our Mrs. Cobb" won in the category of most humorous story (the link in my previous comment should take you directly to that category and the lovely banner). "The Quest for Happily Ever After" and "The Company Picnic" were also nominated in that category, and I had a hard time choosing which one to vote for.

You were also nominated by me and some other folks in a number of other categories, including Angst ("Giselle"), Adventure ("Giselle" again), Pre-Rayne ("Our Mrs. Cobb" again), River-centric ("Little Girl Lost", "Giselle", and "Neither Here nor There"), Fluff ("Our Mrs. Cobb" again), and Continuous Fic ("Giselle" again -- and yes, I voted for you in that category also, in hopes that you might be inspired and encouraged to pick that tale up again someday, selfish pig that I am!).

In other words, your nominations were only outnumbered by those for the extremely prolific goddessofbirth, which is saying a lot! :)

Oh my goodness! I can't believe I was nominated so many times! And for all of my stories too.

Thank you so much for voting for me. And you can be sure that soon I will be bothering you night and day with updates for "Giselle" - my fingers are itching so badly to return to that story again, which I will do as soon as I finish my last school projects. Gah! I'm so excited and honoured and happy and just barely resisting breaking into a victory dance. Thanks again. :D
