Inside of every polite Canadian, there is a violent hockey fan

MY CANUCKS WON!

2-1 in overtime!

I just got back from the game, which my dad took me to as part of an early birthday present. And may I just say... MOST AWESOME BIRTHDAY PRESENT EVER! Which can only be topped if I get a pony on Saturday.

canucks, hockey is life, canada = love

I know this is like saying "What if the sun exploded tomorrow?", but what if the Canucks had lost that game? Would all of Vancouver have imploded? Heck, would British Columbia simply have calved off into the Pacific in protest?

As an avid sports fan, I am familiar with the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat. As a Floridian, hockey is not one of the sports onto which I throw myself entirely, but I keep up with it enough to converse politely with those who do and manage to not sound like a buffoon.

Which brings me back to my first paragraph. Would you have thrown yourself in traffic? Refused to watch anything sports related for at least a week? (This is my most typical course of action. In fact, it's expected. People know not to speak of it unless I bring it up first. It's awful. hehehe.) Sworn off sports altogether? That last one is silly. No one actually does that. If they do, they never loved sport in the first place.

Perhaps they would have. I mean, the Canucks were the favourites going into the playoffs, and they had won the first three games against Chicago, only to blotch the next three (the first two of those games were just pathetic and so utterly painful to watch). If they'd lost this game, riots could very well have broken out like they did in 1994 (which was not Vancouver's finest hour).

My reaction would have been most likely to have tried (and failed) to keep a stiff upper lip until we got to the car and then, once in the safety of vehicle to have burst into sobs and wailed the whole way home. And then, I would have most likely lamented my team's fall for about a week and refused to watch any sports).

Out of curiosity, which sport do you enjoy following the most?

Just wanted to wish you an early Happy Birthday, in case I don't get a chance to go online tomorrow. Hope you enjoy the rest of your birthday as much as you enjoyed this hockey game! :)
