This is really gathering momentum and I'm looking forward to the Cobbs etc. actually coming face to face at last with the Serenity crew. This is one of my two favorite Firefly sagas.

And the Cobbs are just a few of the allies that will come to the Serenity crew's side once the war (one of the shortest in history) breaks. But the Cobb reunion will probably be the most memorable, even only because they break all the good dishes.

OMG! You made my day! I've been waiting on pins and needles for you update. I'm kinda confused though, is Lady Niska Mattie and if she is...wouldn't Jayne recognize his own baby sister??

And, if you don't mind the SPOILERS:

Lady Niska is indeed little Mattie Cobb, who has risen high in the world since we last saw her. And Jayne does recognize her when he meets her again -- he may have a rifle pointed at her head, but his finger isn't on the trigger. The Cobbs are a family who only reveal secrets when it benefits them and right now, revealing that his baby sister was Niska's wife when Mal and Zoe are jumpy and looking to shoot someone, could get both himself and Mattie killed. So, Jayne makes a show of pointing his gun at the one person he would never shoot.

Next chapter, there will be some more subtle hints that Mattie and Jayne will let out to reveal, without directly saying it, that they are brother and sister.

I hope that clears up the confusion? :)

I just loved this chapter so much (even without the Hunters in it,) and I can't wait for River and Jayne to finally get their much needed make-out sex-o-rama! I died laughing when Mal admitted to wearing Inara's perfume and the visual of Jayne and Mal as husband and wife never get's old. Jayne seems so disgusted by it, but always goes along with the plan.

The only sadness I feel is whenever Inara is in the picture. I feel badly that she is dying.

I try not to be a fic-nag, but please, please give us a new chapter....I'm having trouble waiting for the next one and I just finished reading this one.....It's so good, I too get all excited when I see a new chapter. Also, I admit to being confused, but do you only have one chapter left? I hope not as we're just getting to know the Hunters and Jayne's Ma etc. I hope there will be much more of this.

Thank you! I'm thinking that River and Jayne are going to upgrade their relationship fairly soon (perhaps the end of next chapter?). Poor Mal, he just can't get any respect from anyone. ;) I love him so much.

In regards to some happy news, she and Mal should be having a child shortly before River and Jayne get married and Inara lives for at least seven years after that (forgive me, I don't have my notes on me or I would be able to give you the exact number of years she's supposed to have in this story. I think it was ten in total

I think what confused me about the chapters is when you go to your roundup post, it shows the current chapter with all the other chapter links but then shows ch. 19 by itself and it isn't a link. That is why I thought it would end at ch. 19. I'm VERY relieved to hear it will go on and thank you for the tiny tidbits of spoliery fun of things to look forward to. I LOVE this fic. Thanks for all the hours of entertainment you've provided. :)

Gotcha! I was wondering if it was because of the inclusion of Mattie that had you thinking that the end had to be near now. But there is still a ways to go.

I usually put down the next chapter on the round-up to remind myself and everyone else that one day there will be a link posted up. Right now, I could probably put up chapters nineteen through twenty-five as my goal is to have the reunion between the Hunter Brothers and Jayne by then.

I loved the part where Ma Cobb would die and come back to life out of sheer stubbornness. Yeah, I can imagine her doing that.
