The chaos unfolds like a nebula, only nebulas never spit or cussed or screamed, and they never bled neither. Cussing up a storm Balthier kicked open the door to the hold, pushing the kid inside it - he barely looked back as he said, “stay low, stay quiet.” The last she saw was him pressing a kiss to the second mates shoulder before he ran into the fray; Fran looked back at the kid and kissed her knuckles at her, before toeing the door shut, so no-one would hear the slam.

The monitor flashes stupidly fast as Vaan types code strings and passwords and whatever the hell he does to get paid, running his mouth at the same speed for which he doesn’t get paid. Ashe can see Balthier mouthing off at the corner of her eye, gesticulating at Basch’s computer with a screwdriver, while Basch himself half listens good-naturedly. The printer is smoking again and Vaan, even three feet away, looks guilty - Ashe sighs, presses a button on her blackberry and watches as Balthier turns his attention - and his screwdriver, on Vaan.

“And if we recalibrate the vertical engines, change the vibrations of the multifractual energy source and slide the plating back just right…” Balthier ran around the navigation room pulling things, shining his screwdriver and kicking the walls every so often. Fran nonchalantly leaned backwards onto a lever just so, and the alarms died down to an embarrassed silence - Balthier stared at her, screwdriver pointing at the ceiling, and said; “well, yes, or we could have done that, I suppose.”
