Crosswords? Mental stimulation... I think they can be fun and fulfilling. Gardening, if you have the space. Grow yummy food and herbs with which to chef.

i agree with knitting, i picked it up for winter and got to make relatively cheap heartfelt gifts for folks. i can make you one, you can make me one... it'll be fun.
scrapbooking? no, that's a little expensive, and you need to take pictures. redecorating... that's nice.
