She remembers the first time she went to Russia, she was a teenager, then, and it had that strange poignancy everything does when you’re seventeen and there's no such thing as the past. - This is a very nice image of young Ros, or how Ros imagines/remembers being young. And the whole thing is so restrained-sweet.

So poignant. And I especially love the Russia bit, it's so clear in my head, having just been there (I tell you, Moscow is damn cold). The part about Ros being young is especially great- fantastic introspection there.
The way you write their relationship is gorgeous.
