Okay so my opinions of Aurora have changed quite a bit since I've been here. I've been here a good 2 weeks and so far I have had not one, or two but, 5 people come up to me and thank me for serving our country. Now grated what we are doing here isnt really all that impressive but, I have been deployed 15 months out of my almost 7 years in the Air ( Read more... )

Yeah...Aurora's pretty much like that. Mostly because half the students at North Marion decide to join the military after they graduate, cos there's nothing else there for them. I'm a big fan of the military. I'm not so big on the fact that a lot of people join because they feel it's the only available option.

Out of curiosity: are you getting any PTSD counseling at all for your reactions to sudden loud sharp noises? If not, it may be worth your while. My parents had this friend who went to Vietnam...we all went camping, and this guy completely freaked out when the wood in the firepit popped, and he tried to strangle his wife cos he thought "Charlie" was after him. I'm not saying that everyone's gonna turn out a complete wackjob like our friend after being in combat, but it's a good idea to get some counseling of any sort after being placed in a situation where your life is in danger, because of the high amount of mental and physical stress involved.

Hope everything else is going well for you. ^_^

hehe yeah probably the case... Yeah I dont think people should join the military just because they think they have nothing else they can do, however joining sure does open up a bigger world of oportunity to you. If someone is just doing it, "just becuase" is not the thing to do, you have to have some other reason for serving, after all you might just have to lay your life on the line so that millions of people whom you have never met, can live free ( ... )
