The diversion was going off without a hitch. The pathetic little ants had gathered exactly as he'd been told they would, and the moment he had seized the little man and plunged the ocular copying toy into the man's eye socket no one had tried to stop him.

Now he finds himself with the most incredible sense of deja vu. Loki's grin doesn't dim as he ( Read more... )

Annatar knew that he was no longer in the village. The place he was now reminded him most of the opera house, but perhaps from a different time. It was difficult to tell with humans because they didn't make things to last for Ages as the Elves did. He was pleased to note that he was not as he'd slept--nude--but wearing the same thing he had when he came into the village. His ceremonial armour gleamed, down to the bits of mithril chain skirting hanging from his breastplate. His red cloak was shifted aside and his sword was on his back. He also carred something, which he hadn't when arriving in the village--a fine leather case that carried some of his tools and materials to work with. Hm. Why this change ( ... )

Loki turns as his better-than-human senses tell him there's one here who isn't panicking. His grin twists a little on seeing Annatar and though it takes a split second to recognize him, the Asgardian underrreacts admirably. "Not quite just back in time it appears," he tells the dying human on the altar. Loki pats the man's shoulder and tells him, "Don't go anywhere. And don't try to take that out. You will die if you do," he says casually.

Loki steps towards the grand staircase down which the other non-human descends. With a wide smile and open-armed gesture, the staff pointing up to the ceiling, Loki announces, "Welcome to my playground."

"Playground? Is that what you call it?"

Annatar had no idea how to react to any of this. He and Loki had not been enemies, but rather friendly. In Haurvatat, Annatar had styled himself as the Elven Mirdan, one who fought for the well-being of all there. Was he supposed to condone this vicious sort of behaviour now, in a place he knew nothing about. He had surely been brought here because of Loki, so he couldn't break the connection.

"Where are we? I was just in the village, but I am guessing that you were not."

He would remain neutral for now.

He does have the Ring--it's under his gauntlet.

The God of Mischief's grin widens. "Midgaard is the playground of the gods as all know." He looks to one of the mortals he'd knocked senseless on his way to the man whose eye he stole. "I feel rather close to Odin at the moment," he says as an aside, before looking back to the 'Elf.' "Specifically, we are in Stuttgart, Deutschland."

"No, I was in Haurvatat, moping around the expanded prison until just a few moments ago. Imagine my surprise to find myself here and now." Loki spins half way around with his arms wide. He gestures with the staff and his suit and trenchcoat fade out under his armor, including the great horned helmet. When he turns back around to Annatar he says, "This is ... not quite when everything begins, but it's close enough. The chaos and mayhem on a massive scale started here, if nothing else."

Loki makes no threatening gestures, simply operatic and melodramatic ones.
