i'm driving myself crazy. I guess i am not very good at searching for things on the internet. I want to know what the very first vocal recording said. I have found all sorts of things about the history and invention of the phonograph, among other sound recording devices. But what i really want to know is other than "testing" what the actual ( Read more... )

the oldest sound recording is thought to be one of Frank Lambert's invention of an experimental talking clock.
The oldest recording of a human is an 1888 speech by Lord Stanley at the Toronto Agricultural Fair.
The oldest musical recording is of Handel's choral music from June 29, 1888 at The Crystal Palace in London.

you are awesome. I found a small mention of a talking clock but it didn't really go into it very much. ... another piece of this was Thomas Edison singing Mary Had a Little Lamb to test his invention. Sketch had to call and share that part with me. hehe

haha

yeah it took me awhile because there are a lot of suposed first recordings, but the oldest documented one is the clock thing (which for some reason sounded really creepy to me when i was researching).
