So, I am a bit surprised to report that my story has yet another twist. I just received a call from the gynecologic oncologist who did my surgery with results from the full pathology report. Turns out it wasn't a dermoid cyst after all. Rather, it is what it looked like on ultrasound -- a low-malignant potential tumor. The doc assures me that

Wow. While I'm mildly relieved to know you weren't growing anything (other than shrimplet) with the potential for teeth and hair, I'm momentarily (and irrationally) alarmed. I'm so, so very glad you got pregnant when you did and that you've taken such good care of yourself and that this is now in the past and what's in the future is the future.

Thank you. It's all so weird. The rational side of me just figures nothing has changed -- it was the same treatment for both, and I should be fine in both cases. It's just weird to have them throw the *c* word at you. But if they're going to do it, I guess this is about the best reason for it. But still it's such a nasty nasty word.

Anyway, it's all in the past. YAY for that!

Yes, that is pretty much exactly how I feel. Torn between thinking "shit, weird!" and "oh well, nothing is different as it really affects me right now." But still, weird.
