[Background]

[Personality] Narcissa was born into the Black family, a family where blood traitors, mudbloods, and muggles are hated and frowned upon. She was raised in such a way that anyone that isn’t a pureblood is an inferior being. This can be proven by mentioning that her own sister, Andromeda was disowned and ignored for betraying their family for marrying a muggle. Narcissa has shown to be quite uncomfortable with these types of people, even going as far to call Harry, Ron, and Hermoine ‘scum’ when Madam Malkin (the main robe/clothing store) offered them service. Her attitude is quite cold and even spiteful when it comes to people that are “beneath” her.

Her appearance stands out from the rest of the Blacks, most being born with darker hair. Narcissa was born with blonde hair and blue eyes. She’s a very attractive looking woman, not even looking her own age of 43. It’s known that she’s aware of her beauty, showing it through her snobbish attitude towards other people. Her beauty got her a just as striking husband, Lucius Malfoy. So this, in her opinion, worked very well for her and is content with the outcome. Narcissa was also born with a silver spoon in her mouth. She was always very wealthy, whether it being a Black or a Malfoy, she had it all. Because of this, Narcissa settles for nothing but the absolute best. She can tell if something is cheap and run-down as to being something pure and real. Everything she buys is expensive from her head to her toes. Clothes, jewelry, gifts, and home decor. Narcissa will not just hide her wealth, she will gloat and buy numerous things because she can.

Narcissa’s personality changes when it comes to her family. Her usual cold and hurtful attitude is the complete opposite around them. She will do anything for her family. Her husband, Lucius is the love of her life. The two of them went to Hogwarts together, being suited in the same House. She is very loyal to him and would never turn her back if he needed her. When he was in Azkaban, Narcissa was uneasy. She became defensive at the mention of his name, even snapping at her own sister for blaming him for the failure of retrieving the prophecy. Their relationship is affectionate and there’s nothing she wouldn’t do for her husband. Lucius and Narcissa are very alike in many different ways, and that is one of the reasons why they sit very well together.

Draco, her pride and joy, is a complete other part to her heart as well. Narcissa loves Draco more than anyone ever could. She was the reason he attended Hogwarts in the first place, Lucius wanting to send him to Durmstrang. She sent him gifts every day his first year of school. Narcissa spoils this child to no end. Whatever Draco wants, Draco gets. Narcissa was always worried about Draco when he was away at Hogwarts, wondering if he was eating well, if he was being treated right, if his grades were high, etc. She knew most of the answers to those questions, but that didn’t stop her from worrying about him. When Draco was attacked by a hippogriff, Narcissa went crazy. She made sure Lucius went through process of having the thing executed at once. No animal will harm her son and live. Narcissa and Draco have a very close relationship. Lucius was more stern with Draco and wasn’t afraid to show his disappointment in him. But Draco never had to worry about his mother being the same way. Sure, they had their disputes at times, but it was never something that ended on a bad note. Draco listens to his mother and Narcissa listens to him. She understands Draco much more than Lucius does. When Draco lost a Quidditch match, Lucius was disappointed he lost to Harry, almost embarrassed. Narcissa, on the other hand, didn’t care as much as Lucius did. She was proud of Draco for doing the best he can in anything that he did. At the end of Deathly Hallows, Lucius tells Draco to come over to him and Narcissa, but he didn’t listen. When Narcissa did, Draco obeyed. This shows how much Draco loves, appreciates, and listens to his mother.

The relationship between Narcissa and her sister, Bellatrix is rather... complicated. The two of them had a pretty close relationship growing up, Bellatrix even made the nickname “Cissy” for her. Pureblood values were very serious to the Black family. Bellatrix mad sure her little sister took them serious too. Narcissa, of course, was uncomfortable with the idea of blood traitors and muggles, but it was Bellatrix that made her so cold and venomous towards them. As time when on, it was still shown that they were close. When Narcissa went to Snape to ask him to kill Dumbledore instead of Draco, Bellatrix was the one that went with her and sealed the Unbreakable Vow. The two clashed at times, but it was Bellatrix’s insults towards Lucius and Draco that angered Narcissa. She loves Bellatrix because she’s her sister, but talking bad upon her family as if they were low lives does not suit well with Narcissa. Bellatrix had said that Narcissa should be proud that Draco was a Death Eater. Was she? Never, but she wasn’t going to sit there and watch her sister, her own flesh and blood, insult her family in such a way. It was then that she didn’t care that she and Bellatrix were related anymore.

Both Lucius and Draco were risking their lives as Death Eaters and Narcissa did not approve of that one bit, but she was a smart woman. The other option, death, was not an option either. She didn’t care of her personal opinion of their actions with the situation at hand. All she cared about was the safety of her own family, her highest priority. There is nothing she wouldn’t do for her family, even it hurts her own pride. As mentioned before, Narcissa went as far as going to Snape for help, but this wasn’t an easy task for her. Narcissa is a very proud woman with a lot of standards, but she was desperate. Draco couldn’t possibly do such a despicable act, he was just a boy. But Snape was someone she could trust with making the Unbreakable Vow. If Draco didn’t kill Dumbledore, Voldemort would kill him. Narcissa would rather die then to witness her 18-year old son’s dead corpse in front of her. She had to be certain that Draco would be safe, and if that meant hurting her own pride and showing how desperate she she can be, then she would do it in a heart beat. Another important thing to mention is that Narcissa lied to the Dark Lord about Harry being dead. When she went over to check if Harry was alive, she could already tell he was. So she took this opportunity to see if her son was alive and well. Once she heard what she wanted to hear, Narcissa risked her own life and lied to the Dark Lord, saying that Harry was dead. If one was caught doing such a thing, they would be killed in an instant. But Narcissa did it and succeeded, and it was no simple task at all.

Narcissa is also a very intelligent individual. Unlike her husband’s irrational actions, Narcissa is the type that observes things as they come and watches from the sidelines. She’s the type to defend herself and her family if any means necessary, but she’s not going to risk her and their lives just for the sake of being angered. She’s a very rational thinker and burns her anger off silently and at her own pace, rather than doing so without thinking. If someone wishes to to fight with her, however, they’ll be in one heck of a fight. Narcissa is very smart with magic and will use her opponent’s weaknesses to her advantage.

[Abilities]

Narcissa is a brilliant witch. More specifically, she was referred to as the Dark Witch by the Malfoy’s former half elf. She’s very familiar with the Dark Arts, only using it when she needs to. (It is never shown canonly that she ever used them in the first place.)

However, it can be assumed that Narcissa is very skilled in Occlumency. She was able to fool the Dark Lord, a very difficult thing indeed. She’s learned many things from Hogwarts in her time, also teaching herself and some training with Lucius as well.

[First Person]

[(NARCISSA. DRACO.) The view can be seen as a dark, but starry night. Narcissa was laying on the roof of Mille’s church with Draco right next to her.]

Do you remember looking at the stars like this years ago, Draco?

I remember quite a few things, Mother, but that was... [a light scoff] ...bloody ages ago.

Oh, stop. It was not ages ago. [laughing lightly] Don't be ridiculous.

Please. How old was I? Three?

Maybe four, I'm not quite sure. [she points at a constellation towards the right.] Do you know what that constellation is, darling?

Ages ago, Mother. [but he's grinning anyway. And then, by way of apologising for not knowing:] It's been a while since I've looked at the stars.

That one's Bellatrix. [She points to another one.] And over there, that's Cygnus, my father.

How can you remember every star in the sky like that, Mother?

All members of the Black family's names are derived from stars. [She points to one that appears to be right above them.] Can you guess what that one is? [a small smile.]

Well, I knew that much. A simple look at the family tree told me that much. [he follows her finger.] Is it you?

[She shakes her head and looks at him with the same smile.] No, darling. That's you.

[he pauses, staring at it, then stifles a proud little smirk, failing somewhat as he glances at her.] ...oh. Well, it's bright, isn't it?

[She also wears a proud smirk.] The brightest, I'd say.

You did that on purpose.

Perhaps. [The smirk turns into a smile.] I always thought it was a perfect fit. [She looks over at him again and reaches for his hand, holding it in hers.]

[he gives her hand a light squeeze] Thank you, Mother.

[She leans over to give him a firm kiss on the cheek.] Thank you for being my brightest star.

[he colours slightly, relishing the companionship he's missed so dearly.] I wouldn't dream of being anything less.

[Then the feed cuts off.]

[Third Person]

She was running as fast as she could through many people. The faces of the people that she was pushing and shoving through were the least of her concern. Lucius was around here somewhere too, looking for him. He was here moments ago, but they each ran off to look for their one and only pride and joy: Draco.

Draco. Oh Merlin, where was that boy? Potter said he was alive, now where is he? Narcissa yelled her son’s name plenty of times, but she heard nothing in return. Her feet were running as fast as they could, to the point where her feet were hurting with each step. She was frantic. She was desperate to find her son, so much that she didn’t even know where she was anymore. It was as if the background was moving faster than her feet were. The next thing she knew, she was in a place she doesn’t remember seeing... ever.

She froze as she looked around her. There weren’t so many trees before, and these cottages... those weren’t there either. Where was she? Oh no..

“DRACO!” It was then that tears began to form in her eyes and her voice becoming more desperate. Frantic wasn’t even the word to begin to describe what she was feeling. Her head turned to every direction. She looked in every area and small crevice she possibly could.

“Draco!” Narcissa would never stop in her search for Draco. Someone... please, help a mother find her lost son.

[Why do you want to play this character in Somarium?] I adore the wonderful HP cast here and I love Narcissa. I think putting her here would be very interesting and fun to play with.
[Which rule was your favorite and why?] There all great~
