Didn't get a lot of reading done this month, probably because I spent most of my weekends traveling. I did listen to a couple of Meg Cabot's Mediator series on audiobook though, but I'm not putting them on the list since I've already read them before. Also I'm still listening to the unabridged version of World War Z by Max Brooks which continues to be amazing and terrifying. And speaking of terrifying...

- Dan Wells quickly joined the ranks of my favorite authors with I Am Not A Serial Killer. I don't think I've ever read a book where I've been so strongly uncomfortable and repulsed with a character and was actually rooting for him at the same time? I wanted to like the little sociopath so much but then he'd start talking about how he was stalking the girl he had a crush on and my feelings went straight back to NOPEsville. There's an interesting genre shift halfway through the book, which kind of threw me off for a bit, but then I was back into it. I'm hoping to get the second book off of Amazon; for some reason and to my great annoyance, the library only has the third.

- The Art of Wishing was fun and the kind of paranormal romance I'm always hoping for, but the ending wasn't what I wanted at all. I'll check out the second one when it comes out. I don't think I'm going to get too invested in this series though.

- The Rules was massively disappointing. It was good, but it was mostly set-up for the next books in the series, I think. I think Kade's Ghost and the Goth series is going to be hard to top.

- Sobs, I reached the end of the Parasol Protectorate series! I'd be more sad about this series ending, but apparently Gail Carriger is coming out with another set of them about these characters so THANK GOD. Timeless was a strong finishing book, but not my favorite of the bunch. However, my gay werewolf power couple FINALLY BECAME CANON so there was fist pumping all around on my end.

- I don't know what to think about Rachel Hawkins latest. I know I liked it, but the pacing was fast and a little bumpy, and it lacked the charm of the first Hex Hall book.

- What to say about Sever. My initial reaction was that it was a strong finisher for an overall weak series, but then I reflected about it a little more and decided it was just as poorly plotted and circular as the other two. Rhine is one hell of a doormat for the dudes in her life and has a serious case of Stockholm Syndrome for Linden, let me tell you. I think I had such warm, fuzzy feelings for the book because I enjoyed its focus on Rhine and Cecily's relationship rather than Rhine and her two obligatory love interests. In the end, though, it was still a meandering mess of a series.

Currently reading: Just about 100 pages into Icons by Margaret Stohl. Aliens seem to be a big trend in YA this season because I've got a couple more on my need-to-buy list that feature them in it.

Up next: I bought Code Name Verity the other night, so I might read that one next. I still have Requiem by Lauren Oliver to read, not sure why I keep avoiding it!
