Ian McKellen = Gandalf. If Ian McKellen ≠ Gandalf, I will blow up the internet.
I think the trilogy made it kinda hard to cast Bilbo, as they had Gandalf say "you haven't aged a day" to Bilbo, but that guy just keeps getting older and older, and I wouldn't want him playing Bilbo. Plus, younger crowds might not sympathize with an older main character. I'd like to maybe see an unknown for Bilbo, as long as he's good.
I'm really excited to see who they cast as the Dwarves. Hrm. Spellcheck says Dwarfs, but that looks like a stupid Disney spelling, and the internet says dwarves. Therefore, dwarves is correct.
I totally forgot that Gandalf said that! OOPS! Maybe a lot of people won't notice? LOL! Yeah that guy is a great actor but he looks like he is going to fall over dead soon. I am scared to see who they cast.
basically, the characters that were in LOTR need to reprise their roles-- esp. Ian McKellan and Ian Holm as Gandalf and Bilbo, respectively --or else nerds everywhere will throw a fit (myself included)
other than that, i don't know who else i could picture in the roles, except i think Michael Clarke Duncan would make a great Bjorn
